Singer/songwriter Nataly Dawn, one half of the duo Pomplamoose, made her Nonesuch Records debut with the release of her solo album How I Knew Her earlier this year. The album comprises 12 autobiographical, introspective songs by Dawn, produced by her longtime partner Jack Conte and recorded with a group of accomplished musicians—Ryan Lerman, David Piltch, Louis Cole, and Matt Chamberlain—at Prairie Sun Studios, where many of her favorite Tom Waits albums had been made. Dawn has released a number of videos of songs from the album shot at the recording sessions via her YouTube channel, and has now unveiled the first official music video, for the album track "Leslie," directed by Eric Kallevig. You can watch the video below and at nonesuch.com/media.

"Eric Kallevig did something magical to my sad song," Dawn tells American Songwriter, which gave the video its world premiere on Friday: "he cast light on the story behind the lyrics, without sacrificing any of the mystery.”

How I Knew Her was released to critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic. Mojo gives it four stars, as does the Daily Telegraph, which calls it "delightful." NPR's All Things Considered says it's "a whole different side of Nataly Dawn that Pomplamoose fans might not have known. It's funny and it's challenging. It's poignant, spiritual." The BBC calls it "the sound of a woman brimming with ideas as she seizes her moment."

To pick up a copy of How I Knew Her, head to iTunes or the Nonesuch Store, where CD and vinyl orders include a download of the complete album at checkout, and MP3 and FLAC files are also available to purchase.
