Brad Mehldau, Bill Frisell Take JVC Jazz Fest NY Stages This Week
The 2008 JVC Jazz Festival New York got under way earlier this week and continues through June 28 at venues throughout the City, including Carnegie Hall, where the Brad Mehldau Trio will play this Sunday in Zankel Hall in a program titled "A Taste of Genius," and the Greenwich Village club Le Poisson Rouge, where Bill Frisell's new trio will make its New York debut this Thursday.

Brad Mehldau Trio Brings "Beautiful, Arresting" Performance to Gilmore Festival
The Brad Mehldau Trio performed at the Gilmore Keyboard Festival this weekend in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It was the first time the Trio had played the event since 2000, and, writes William R. Wood in the Kalamazoo Gazette, "Mehldau was excellent at pulling people into his world."

These 15 MP3s contain the complete music—over three hours—from all three Friday-night sets of the Trio's October 2006 residency at the Village Vanguard featured on their two-disc Live album, including tunes by Thelonious Monk, Benny Goodman, Paul Simon, and Radiohead. The tracks "Fit Cat" and "Secret Beach" also appear on the Brad Mehldau Trio Live CD.
