About this Album

South India's classical Carnatic music is based on a prodigious number of fully composed songs, most of which express intense religious sentiment. The songs—dating as far back as the 15th century with most coming from between 1700 and 1900—are primarily vocal and accompanied by violin, percussion, and drone.
