Watch: Björk Awarded Artist of the Year Webby

Congratulations to Björk, who received the Artist of the Year Award at the 16th Annual Webby Awards in a ceremony in New York City last night. The Webbys honor excellence on the Internet. Björk's latest album, Biophilia, was also released as a suite of Apps, with a dedicated App for each song on the album. She was introduced last night by Scott Snibbe, who led the team of Biophilia App developers. All Webby winners are kept to five-word acceptance speeches; you can watch Björk's in the video coverage here.

Björk Earns Artist of the Year Webby Award, Shares Her Inspirations with The Guardian

Björk has been named Artist of the Year by the Webby Awards, which honor excellence on the Internet. Her latest album, Biophilia, was also released as a suite of Apps, with a dedicated App for each song on the album. Björk is also featured in today's Guardian, in which she shares an eclectic list of things that have inspired her of late, which covers art, music, literature, climate conditions, geography, outdoor activities, even coconut water.

The third in a series of imported 12" vinyl releases featuring variations on music from Björk's Biophilia, this 12" includes versions of three songs—here titled "Crystalline," "Tesla," and "Mawal"—by Syrian musician Omar Souleyman. Souleyman's work blends traditional folk music from the Middle East with more modern electronic sounds. Prefix calls his collaboration with Björk "a wonderful fusion of styles." Pre-order for August 16 release.
