News & Reviews

  • k.d. lang Makes Broadway Debut in New Musical "After Midnight"

k.d. lang makes her Broadway debut in the new musical After Midnight as Special Guest Star vocalist beginning this Tuesday, February 11, and continuing through Sunday, March 9, 2014. After Midnight, which celebrates Duke Ellington’s years at the Cotton Club using his original arrangements and performed by a big band of 17 musicians hand-picked by Wynton Marsalis, began performances last fall with Fantastia in the role, reintroducing the Cotton Club's tradition of welcoming stars in limited engagements throughout the musical's run. The New York Times says the show is "hot, sweet, and altogether glorious." New York magazine calls it "pure joy ... an unmitigated pleasure."

  • k.d. lang Helps Launch Free Tools for Peace Meditation App

Tools for Peace, a national educational non-profit of which singer-songwriter k.d. lang is a board member, has created "Stop, Breathe & Think," a free app for iPad and iPhone, to guide people of all ages and backgrounds through meditations for mindfulness and compassion. "I would like to believe that through this free app," says lang, “meditation can become a natural part of our everyday lives. It’s simple to use and has the ability to reach far and wide, from children riding buses to school to teenagers just hanging out to business leaders in countries around the world."
