News & Reviews

  • Congratulations to all of the Nonesuch Records artists who were nominated for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, announced earlier today by The Recording Academy: Brad Mehldau, Joshua Redman, Rhiannon Giddens, Caetano Veloso & Gilberto Gil, and John Adams. Together, these artists' Nonesuch releases have garnered a total of six nominations this year. The Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017, in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS.

  • Caetano Veloso and Teresa Cristina have brought their world tour to the US for four shows. The concerts, in which Cristina's opening set features music from her new album and DVD, Canta Cartola, begin with a sold-out show at The Town Hall in NYC tonight, followed by a second night there on Thursday and shows at Symphony Center in Chicago on Sunday and Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday. Veloso and Cristina will bring the music back home to Brazil in November, with newly added shows in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

  • About This Album

Working with the youthful trio he introduced on 2007’s brash, rock-oriented , Veloso fashions a set rooted in samba but filtered through rock and funk, with songs that range from the bluntly political to the frankly sexual. The Times of London declared, “The Brazilian master remains in a league of his own.”
