    Congratulations to Audra McDonald, who has been nominated for an Emmy Award for Lead Actress in a Limited Series/TV Movie for her role as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill on HBO. McDonald made history and became Broadway's most decorated performer when she won her sixth Tony Award for Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill in 2014. The Emmy Awards will air live on ABC on Sunday, September 18.

    Audra McDonald joined scores of fellow members of the Broadway community last week to record Burt Bacharach / Hal David's "What the World Needs Now Is Love" for a new charitable initiative, Broadway for Orlando. The song, released by Broadway Records, is available to purchase at the label's site. The recording was made to honor the victims of the Orlando shooting massacre at Pulse nightclub; 100% of the proceeds from sales of the song will benefit the GLBT Center of Central Florida.     Audra McDonald, currently on Broadway in Shuffle Along, joined The Late Late Show host James Corden for a very special, all-Broadway Carpool Karaoke last night, along with Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda; Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson, now on Broadway in Fully Committed; and 30 Rock's Jane Krakowski, now in She Loves Me. Corden, who hosts the Tony Awards this Sunday, and crew rode through NYC singing out show tunes from Hamilton, Rent, Jersey Boys, and, Les Misérables. Watch it here.

    Audra McDonald brings her acclaimed portrayal of Billie Holiday from Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill to HBO starting this Saturday, March 12. Filmed before a live audience at Café Brasil in New Orleans, the special features McDonald in her Tony-winning performance as Billie Holiday, telling the jazz icon’s life story through the songs that made her famous. Returning to Broadway in Shuffle Along, McDonald is the subject of a feature in New York magazine's Best of New York issue titled "Shocking As It Is to Believe, the Theater May Be in a New Golden Age" and subtitled "One reason: Audra McDonald, Broadway's greatest voice, is back."

    Audra McDonald will bring her Tony Award-winning portrayal of Billie Holiday in Lanie Robertson's musical play Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill to London, making her West End Debut with a nine-week run at Wyndham's Theatre starting June 25, 2016. "London is my second favourite city in the world, and I've always wanted to perform in the West End," McDonald tells the Daily Mail. "I'm just so tickled that it’s finally coming together; and I'm especially thrilled that it’s this particular project." HBO's own presentation of Audra McDonald in Lady Day will premiere on March 12. She performs two concerts in London this Sunday and returns to Broadway this spring in Shuffle Along.

    A Celebration of American Creativity: In Performance at the White House, with President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and performances from Audra McDonald and a host of fellow artists, premieres on PBS stations across the US tonight at 9 PM ET. The performances commemorate the 50th anniversary of the National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities Act. McDonald's portrayal of Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill will premiere on HBO on March 12. She will take part in an all-star tribute to Lena Horne at Symphony Space in NYC this Tuesday and lead two shows at the Leicester Square Theatre in London on January 17. Audra McDonald returns to Broadway in Shuffle Along this spring; previews begin March 15.

    Audra McDonald makes her Australian debut with a one-night-only performance at Arts Centre Melbourne's Hamer Hall this Saturday, October 31, followed by three performances with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House from November 5 to 7. The show has won the Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Program.
