Carolina Chocolate Drops, Punch Brothers, Chris Thile Nominated for Americana Awards

Congratulations to Carolina Chocolate Drops and Punch Brothers, who have both been nominated for Duo/Group of the Year in the 2012 Americana Honors & Awards, presented by the Americana Music Association. Punch Brothers' own Chris Thile has also been nominated as Instrumentalist of the Year (as has Buddy Miller, who produced the Chocolate Drops' new album, Leaving Eden, and Shawn Colvin's forthcoming album, All Fall Down).

The nominees were announced by John C. Reilly in a ceremony held at The Grammy Museum's Clive Davis Theatre in Los Angeles yesterday. The celebration also featured performances by special guests Lucinda Williams, Shelby Lynne, and Robert Ellis alongside the Americana All-Star band, led by Buddy Miller with Jim Lauderdale, Greg Leisz, Don Heffington and Don Was. The finale song honored Americana icons Levon Helm, Earl Scruggs, and Doc Watson.

The Americana Honors & Awards ceremony will take place at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium on September 12, as part of the Americana Music Festival that will take place September 12-15 at various venues throughout the city. Lauderdale will once again host the ceremony, while Miller will lead the All-Star Band.
