Carolina Chocolate Drops, as we announced in the Nonesuch Journal earlier this week, will release their Joe Henry-produced Nonesuch debut, Genuine Negro Jig, on February 23, 2010. They've got two more performances scheduled for this year—tonight at the Canyons in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, and Friday at the Caswell County Civic Center in Yanceyville, South Carolina.

Now comes the announcement of a two-month tour, with dates across the United States and in the UK, this coming January and February, leading up to and following the new album's release date. Starting things off is a performance at the Melting Point in Athens, Georgia, followed by stops in South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts. The UK leg of the tour starts in late January at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall for Scotland's Celtic Connections festival, with several dates in England up next, including a stop at London's Bush Hall. The trio returns to the States for the album's US release in late February with shows in Indiana, Missouri, and Illinois, capped by a set at Schuba's in Chicago.
