    Chris Thile was joined by fellow Punch Brothers Chris Eldridge and Noam Pikelny as they sat in with the band on his radio show Live From Here at The Town Hall in NYC on Saturday. For a post-broadcast encore, they performed "My Oh My," from Punch Brothers' album The Phosphorescent Blues, with guest Jon Batiste. You can watch it here. Also on the show were St. Vincent (with Thomas Bartlett on piano) and Sara Watkins.

    Chris Thile gave a nod to his Nonesuch label mate David Byrne when he performed the Talking Heads' tune "(Nothing But) Flowers" on Live From Here last weekend, along with special guests Maggie Rogers, Sarah Jarosz, Vulfpeck, and Punch Brothers banjoist Noam Pikelny. Watch it here. Caetano Veloso offered his own take on the song on his 2004 album, A Foreign Sound, and again, this time with Byrne, on their 2012 album, Live at Carnegie Hall.

    Chris Thile spoke with WNYC's The Brian Lehrer Show about hosting the radio show Live From Here, holding Carnegie Hall's Debs Composer's Chair, becoming a MacArthur Fellow, and more. He also performed two songs: "St. Mike," a Live From Here Song of the Week about Michael Cohen, and "Attaboy," from The Goat Rodeo Sessions. You can listen to the session here. Live From Here continues its residency at The Town Hall in NYC for the next two Saturdays.

    Lake Street Dive's Rachael Price was on Live From Here with Chris Thile broadcast live from The Town Hall in NYC on Saturday. She sat in with Thile and the band throughout the show and stepped out to perform the classic Steve Winwood–penned Blind Faith tune "Can't Find My Way Home" and the Bruce Hornsby / Chaka Khan tune "Love Me Still," both of which you can watch here.

    Chris Thile joined Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards to perform "Sidewalks of New York," a 19th-century vaudeville song, for Spire Studios. Watch the result here. Thile and his fellow Punch Brothers begin the last leg of their big US summer tour in Washington, DC, on Thursday; their new album, All Ashore, is out on vinyl this Friday. Tune-Yards open for David Byrne on the next leg of his American Utopia tour, starting this Friday.

    Congratulations to Punch Brothers and the band's own Chris Thile and Noam Pikelny, all of whom have been nominated for 2018 International Bluegrass Music Awards. Punch Brothers are among the finalists for Instrumental Group of the Year, Thile is up for Distinguished Achievement Award, and Pikelny for Banjo Player of the Year. The Distinguished Achievement Award is the highest honor bestowed by the IBMA outside of induction into the Hall of Fame. Winners will be announced in Raleigh, NC, on September 27. Punch Brothers' new album, All Ashore, will be eligible for the 2019 awards.

    The ECHO Jazz 2018 Award nominations have been announced by the German Recording Academy, including for Chris Thile, Brad Mehldau, and Tigran Hamasyan. Thile and Mehldau are nominated for their duo debut together, Chris Thile & Brad Mehldau—Thile in the Special Instruments category, Mehldau in Piano International—and Hamasyan is up for Piano International for his album An Ancient Observer.

    Carnegie Hall has announced, with its 2018–19 concert season, that Chris Thile will hold the Debs Composer's Chair for the season. His residency includes Live From Here Songs of the Week; intimate recitals of a new piece and works by Bach; a multi-artist evening of traditional Scots, Irish, and American folk music; and the first-ever double bill of Nickel Creek and Punch Brothers.You can watch a video previewing the events here.

    Punch Brothers performed on a special holiday edition of CBS This Morning's Saturday Sessions on December 23. The band was joined by Aoife O'Donovan on the Pogues' holiday classic "Fairytale of New York," and she, Chris Thile, and Chris Eldridge performed "Douglas Fir," from Thile's new album, Thanks for Listening.     The Staves and yMusic were on Live From Here with Chris Thile, broadcast live from The Town Hall in NYC on Saturday, performing three songs from their new album, The Way Is Read: the title track, "Trouble on My Mind," and "All My Life." The Staves also joined Thile and the show's other guests, Jeff Tweedy, Sarah Jarosz, and Punch Brothers, to perform the Pogues' Christmas classic "Fairytale of New York."
