"Unique is almost always an overstatement. Not when it comes to David Byrne," Kelly Corrigan, host of PBS's Tell Me More, says of her guest. "Even if you crossed Andy Warhol with Kurt Vonnegut and added some Mr. Rogers, you still wouldn't quite capture his idiosyncratic magic. He has been creating weird, wonderful art with singular precision for fifty-some years." You can watch their conversation—about his childhood, his career in music, bringing American Utopia to Broadway, and more—here.

David Byrne was on NPR's Bullseye with Jesse Thorn to discuss David Byrne's American Utopia, the Spike Lee film of which has won two Emmy Awards, and the theatrical production of which returns to Broadway this Friday. "If you wanted to find a common theme in his work, maybe it's that David Byrne has always worked to push the boundaries of what pop music can be," says Thorn. "While at the same time, he takes high art ... and makes it more accessible and familiar." You can hear their conversation here.

David Byrne’s American Utopia will return to Broadway this fall at the St. James Theatre, with the full original band, from September 17. "It is with great pleasure that finally, after a year+ like no other, I can announce that our show is coming back to Broadway," says Byrne. "You who kept the faith, who held on to your tickets, well, you knew this would happen eventually! September 17, remount previews begin. We’re moving to the St. James Theatre, just down 44th Street from the Hudson, where we were before. The stage is a little wider and the capacity is a little bigger—I guess we did alright! Seriously, New York is back, and given all we’ve witnessed, felt, and experienced, it is obvious to me that no one wants to go back to a world with EVERYTHING the way it was—we have an opportunity for a new world here. See you there.”

David Byrne talks with hip-hop artist Open Mike Eagle on Fuse, a podcast from Bomb magazine. "Your music has been in my life for a very long time," Eagle says. "One of my earliest musical memories, when I was like five or six years old ... I think it’s like the second song I ever remember hearing was 'Burning Down the House' ... And, you know, 'Once in a Lifetime' is literally one of my favorite songs ever. Like if I were to make an objective top ten list, that song would be on there." You can hear their conversation here.

"With a mind as sharp as an encyclopedia but as free as the wind, David Byrne delves into the music and poetry that inspired him to re-imagine the Top 40, launching his iconoclastic career," says Are We on Air? podcast host Arman Naféei of his guest. "As original as thinkers come, jumping into Byrne’s world pushes boundaries, questions structures, and does it all with Byrnian flare: perfectly synchronous with eclectically mesmerizing style." You can hear the conversation here.
