    David Byrne has begun his North American American Utopia tour, with shows in San Diego, Arizona, and Las Vegas and sets at Coachella in the week ahead, and across the US and Canada in the months ahead. The tour includes songs from the new album as well as classics from his solo career and Talking Heads. A twelve-piece band joins Byrne on stage for an Annie-B Parson–choreographed concert that he has called "the most ambitious show I’ve done since Stop Making Sense."

    Congratulations to David Byrne, whose album American Utopia debuted at No. 1 on the Top Album Chart and No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200, the highest of his career. The album also topped both the Rock and Alternative Album Charts. American Utopia has also debuted at No. 1 on the Canadian Album and Alternative charts, another career high. There are more career chart highs across Europe, where the album premiered in the Top 20 in the UK and Ireland, and Top 40 in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Belgium, and Netherlands.

    David Byrne presents American Utopia: Detroit, a video for "Everybody's Coming To My House" from his new album, American Utopia, featuring a performance of the song by Detroit School of Arts (DSA) Vocal Jazz Ensemble students. The video, which includes personal perspectives and interpretations from the students, was filmed in part by their classmates from the school's Radio & Television Department. You can see it here, along with Byrne's conversation about the video and more with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show. Byrne has also added new US shows with special guest Tune-Yards on his world tour.

    David Byrne celebrated the release of his new album, American Utopia, with an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He joined Colbert for a conversation about the new album, why Jared Kushner might make for a good musical theater subject, reasons to be cheerful, and more. Byrne and his band then performed "Everybody's Coming To My House" from the new album, with an assist from Colbert. You can watch them here, as well as a web-exclusive bonus well worth a watch.

    David Byrne has added two NYC dates to his extensive American Utopia world tour. For the first time since 1983, during the Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense tour, Byrne will play Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, on September 15. He has also added a show at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn on September 17. Tune-Yards will open both shows. Byrne will be on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert this Friday.

    David Byrne has unveiled a limited-edition set of prints made by NYC artist Steve Powers, aka ESPO, available exclusively in the Nonesuch Store. This diptych, inspired by Byrne's new album, American Utopia, includes two hand-pulled screen prints made in Brooklyn at ESPO's Art World, packaged in a hand-stamped LP sleeve (LP not included). Orders will be taken for a limited time only, March 5–8, and include a digital download of the new album on release day.

    David Byrne has released "This Is That," a new track from his album American Utopia, due March 9. Byrne co-wrote the song with Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never. Uncut named it the month's Best New Music, calling it "one of the best songs of Byrne's storied career." "This Is That" can now be heard here and downloaded instantly with album pre-orders, along with the song "Everybody's Coming To My House."

They discuss his Reasons To Be Cheerful series of talks, which he presented in London Tuesday, and his new album, American Utopia, from which Laverne gives the world premiere of the track "This Is That," a collaboration with Daniel Lopatin (aka Oneohtrix Point Never). Byrne was also a guest on BBC Radio 2's Drivetime show with Simon Mayo.
