Dawn Upshaw has been named Music Director for the 2011 Ojai Music Festival. Next year's gathering, June 9–12, 2011, will mark the soprano's fourth appearance at the festival. Among those already signed on to participate are Richard Tognetti, Maria Schneider, and Peter Sellars. Upshaw makes her debut with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra later this month, performing works written for her by Osvaldo Golijov.

Dawn Upshaw has been named Music Director for the 2011 Ojai Music Festival. Next year's gathering, Ojai's 65th, which is set to take place June 9–12, 2011, will mark the soprano's fourth appearance at the Southern California festival. Upshaw, together with Ojai Artistic Director Thomas W. Morris, has already signed on a number of collaborators to participate in the event, including the Australian Chamber Orchestra's Richard Tognetti; composer Maria Schneider; and a frequent collaborator of Upshaw's, director Peter Sellars. (Another frequent Sellars collaborator, John Adams, was Ojai's Music Director in 1993.) Further details for the 2011 Ojai Music Festival's program will be announced this fall.

This year's Ojai Music Festival is set to take place next month, June 10–13, with composer George Benjamin as Music Director. For more information, visit ojaifestival.org.

Upshaw, who was forced to cancel last week's appearance with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra due to seasonal allergies, performs with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra at Edmonton's Winspear Centre later this month. She makes her ESO debut singing Osvaldo Golijov’s Three Songs and his adaptation of four songs by Schubert, all written expressly for her.

    Kronos Quartet has announced its ninth-annual Kronos Festival, to take place at SFJAZZ Center, June 20–23, 2024. The festival marks the ensemble’s milestone 50th Anniversary year and the farewell performances of John Sherba and Hank Dutt, members of Kronos Quartet for more than 45 years. It will feature a slate of world and Bay Area premieres commissioned as part of the KRONOS Five Decades season; several guest artists; and the final performance of A Thousand Thoughts, a live documentary chronicling the quartet’s career, written and directed by Sam Green and Joe Bini.
