The music-making continues through the weekend with sets to come from Chris Thile and Michael Daves, Emmylou Harris, and Punch Brothers, plus Sara Watkins sits in with the Decemberists as part of her ongoing tour with the group.

    Emmylou Harris kicks off her North American spring and summer tour with a return to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Telluride, Colorado, tonight. The tour will feature songs from Harris's recent Nonesuch release, Hard Bargain, as well as favorites from throughout her career. The tour includes several festival sets like the Dave Matthew Band Caravan, Newport Folk Festival, and Canada's Harvest Picnic; an Austin City Limits Live performance; a show with the Levon Helm Band in New York's Central Park; and stops at more than a dozen indoor and outdoor venues across the US.

    Emmylou Harris concludes her spring European tour at Admiralspalast in Berlin tonight. She heads back to the States and launches the US leg of her tour at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Telluride, Colorado, on June 17. Harris recently spoke with Rolling Stone about her new album, Hard Bargain, and moments from throughout her career, like her friendship with Gram Parsons, about whom she wrote "The Road" off Hard Bargain, and working with Bob Dylan.

    In a new video, Emmylou Harris lends her voice to the effort to stop mountaintop removal mining in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Maryland. Harris joins Naomi Judd, Kathy Mattea, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and local and national organizations to help raise public awareness about an upcoming march to end mountaintop removal and a new documentary feature film about the issue called The Last Mountain, set for release in early June.     Emmylou Harris will serve along with Tennessee's Governor and First Lady as honorary co-chairs for the 73rd Annual National Folk Festival in Nashville over Labor Day weekend. The festival is free. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, reviewing her new album, says: "Few weave stories like Emmylou Harris. Her Hard Bargain is a collection of tales that can make us feel whole again." The Boston Phoenix says Harris is "still singing and writing beautifully after all these years ... Hard Bargain is a gorgeous album."

She spoke with host Melissa Block about her new album, Hard Bargain, and what Block calls a "strain of wistfulness" in the songs she wrote for it, including "The Road," about her relationship with Gram Parsons. Harris joins Steve Earle on his Hardcore Troubadour Radio show on Sirius XM Outlaw Country this weekend, featuring solo performances of songs from Hard Bargain and a very special duet.

    Emmylou Harris performed "Six White Cadillacs," off her new album, Hard Bargain, on the Late Show with David Letterman last night. Letterman called her "an icon, one of the greats, if not the best in country music and, just generally, popular music as far as a composer and a singer and an artist." She performed the album's title track on the Today show this morning. Yahoo! Music's Ram Country series features a video interview with Harris and performances of three songs off the album: "Six White Cadillacs," "Home Sweet Home," and "Darlin' Kate."     Emmylou Harris celebrated the release of her new album, Hard Bargain, with a special performance of the complete album at NY's Bowery Ballroom last night. She performs "Six White Cadillacs" on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight and will appear on the Today show tomorrow morning. NPR's Fresh Air calls the new album "the most eclectic and loose-fitting album Emmylou Harris has made in a long time," one that "deserves a wider audience." WNYC's Soundcheck names it a Pick of the Week.

    Emmylou Harris's new album, Hard Bargain, is out now. She performs at Bowery Ballroom tonight and on the Late Show with David Letterman tomorrow. The Washington Post says Hard Bargain is "lovely and understated and will only further Harris’s reputation as a paragon of gentle dignity and forbearance." USA Today gives it four stars and calls it "exquisite." Paste says Harris continues to create "some of the best country-influenced music being recorded today." Country Standard Time says the album "marks another triumphant recording in a career filled with memorable work."     Emmylou Harris, whose album Hard Bargain is due out tomorrow, is the subject of a feature profile in the New York Times Sunday Arts & Leisure section, which says the new album "is suffused with kindly intimacy, acknowledging sorrows and reaching past them." The AP says her new songs are "up to her high standards." Harris also spoke with The Canadian Press and with the Los Angeles Times, which cites "her unwavering compassion throughout her career for the underdog, oppressed, the voiceless." The video for the song "Six White Cadillacs" has premiered on Garden & Gun, which says the album "packs a powerful, bluesy punch"; watch the video here.
