David Byrne’s "Here Lies Love" Cast Recording Out May 6 on Nonesuch; Public Theater Production Returns to Stage April 14
Nonesuch Records will release the cast recording of David Byrne’s Here Lies Love on May 6. The recording features music by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim as performed by the original 2013 Public Theater cast of the Here Lies Love musical starring Ruthie Ann Miles and Jose Llana as Imelda and Ferdinand Marcos. Pre-order in the Nonesuch Store for an instant download of the track “Child of the Philippines” (heard here). Here Lies Love returns to New York’s Public Theater this spring with performances beginning April 14; opening night set for May 1.

David Byrne & Fatboy Slim's "Here Lies Love" Earns Obie, Outer Critics Circle Awards, Extends Run to July 28
David Byrne and Fatboy Slim have won the Village Voice Obie Award for Music/Lyrics for Here Lies Love; the ceremony was held at Webster Hall in New York on Monday and featured a performance from the cast. Here Lies Love has also won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical, which will be presented tomorrow at Sardi's. The musical, which opened at the Public Theater in April, has now been extended a fourth and final time to run through July 28. The new musical of Here Lies Love, which explores the life of Imelda Marcos, with concept and lyrics by David Byrne and music by Byrne and Fatboy Slim, has opened to rave reviews and Outer Critics Circle and Drama League award nominations. "Boogie on down—and you must—to the glittery new dance palace at the Public Theater," implores the New York Times, to hear this "insidiously infectious set of songs." David Byrne's "Here Lies Love" Begins Five-Night Run at MASS MoCA; Album Is "Superb, Sumptuous" (Boston Globe)
Here Lies Love, the new David Byrne and Fatboy Slim musical on the life of Imelda Marcos, begins a five-night, sold-out run at MASS MoCA tonight. The performances offer an early look at the musical, which will receive its official world premiere at NYC's Public Theater in April 2013. The Boston Globe calls the 2010 Nonesuch recording of the song cycle "superb" and "sumptuous." Director Alex Timbers, in an interview with the Globe, calls Byrne "one of the most important artists of the last several decades."
