    k.d. lang's performance of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" at the Logie Awards, Australia's television awards, last week "held the room spellbound," says the Sydney Morning Herald. Now comes word that the lang's latest Nonesuch release, Recollection, has shot to No. 1 on Australia's album chart, a position the album first reached upon its release in February.

    k.d. lang is due to perform at the 2010 TV Week Logie Awards, the Australian television award. The awards ceremony will take place at Melbourne's Crown Casino on May 2 and will be broadcast on Australia's Nine Network. "I'm honoured to be included in the TV Week Logie Awards because Australia feels like my second home," says lang. Her latest album, Recollection, hit the top of the Australian pop charts.

    Tune in to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight to catch k.d. lang and her band perform a song from her recent career retrospective, Recollection. "If an artist as great as Tony Bennett can refer to her as the best singer since Judy Garland," says the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, "you know she's got something special going on."     Recollection, k.d. lang's most recent Nonesuch release, remains at No. 1 on the charts in Australia and in the Top 5 in her home country of Canada, where she wowed audiences at the Vancouver Winter Olympics last month. NPR agreed: "It's prestigious company that k.d. lang deserves to keep." The statement was affirmed as NPR broadcast the profile on Morning Edition. The Calgary Herald says the new album "provides a great look at k.d. lang's artistry and her ambitious career arc."
