Record Store Day has premiered The Arcs' new track "Young," which was co-written by David Berman of the Silver Jews. "We've been meeting at night, writing together for a few years," says The Arcs' Dan Auerbach. "This is the first time we've shared any of that. The Arcs have recorded more songs from the collaboration and we hope to release more of it very soon." You can hear the track here. The song appears on the band's limited-edition six-song recording, The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol. I, featuring Dr. John and David Hidalgo. The 10" vinyl is out this Friday, November 27, for Record Store Day's Black Friday event. A digital version will be available December 11. The Arcs kick off a North American tour December 1.

The Record Store Day website has premiered The Arcs' new track "Young," which was co-written by David Berman of the Silver Jews. "We've been meeting at night, writing together for a few years," says The Arcs' Dan Auerbach. "This is the first time we've shared any of that. The song appears on the band's limited-edition six-song recording, The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol. I, featuring Dr. John and David Hidalgo. The 10" vinyl will be released this Friday, November 27, via Nonesuch Records as part of Record Store Day's Black Friday event. A digital version will be available for download on December 11.

The disc is the first in a series of collaborative "Inventors" recordings to be released by The Arcs. Of the project Auerbach states, "This release was a chance to work with some of our favorite musicians and musical inspirations, guys who invented a world where The Arcs can coexist. We hope to build on these traditions as a band and plan to make collaborations with other 'inventors' an ongoing project."

The Black Friday release follows The Arcs' debut album, Yours, Dreamily, which was recently released to critical acclaim (available at your local record shop, on iTunes, the Arcs shop, and the Nonesuch Store). In support of the records, the band—which features Auerbach, Leon Michels, Richard Swift, Homer Steinweiss and Nick Movshon along with special guests Mariachi Flor de Toloache—embarks upon their first tour this fall, with dates in December at Chicago's The Vic, Akron's Civic Theatre, New York's Terminal 5, and Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, among others. All tickets are now on sale (see below for complete details).

Brad Mehldau’s After Bach II and Après Fauré are due May 10 on Nonesuch Records. The Bach album comprises four preludes and one fugue from the Well-Tempered Clavier, as well as the Allemande from the fourth Partita, interspersed with seven compositions or improvisations by Mehldau inspired by the complementary works of Bach—including Mehldau’s Variations on Bach’s Goldberg Theme. On Après Fauré, Mehldau performs four nocturnes, from a thirty-seven-year span of Gabriel Fauré’s career, as well as a reduction of an excerpt from the Adagio movement of his Piano Quartet in G Minor. Here Mehldau’s four compositions that Fauré inspired are presented in a group, bookended by two sections featuring the French composer’s works.

Bolivian-born singer and multimedia performer Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti and Chicago expat jazz drummer Frank Rosaly will release MESTIZX, their debut full-length album as co-composers, arrangers, and musicians, May 3 on International Anthem / Nonesuch Records. Partners in both marriage and art, the Amsterdam-based duo dove deep into the sounds of their respective ancestral roots in Bolivia, Brazil, and Puerto Rico to create this deeply personal meditation on decolonization and the defiant power of ritual and protest.
