Punch Brothers' forthcoming five-song EP, Ahoy!, due out November 13, includes songs by Josh Ritter, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Punch Brothers, and Mclusky, along with one traditional tune. Last week brought an early listen to the band's take on Ritter's "Another New World," which is included as an instant download with pre-orders. Now you can get another taste of the EP by listening to a preview clip of "Down Along the Dixie Line," originally by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, here.

Punch Brothers' forthcoming five-song EP, Ahoy!, due out on Nonesuch Records on November 13, includes songs by Josh Ritter (“Another New World”), Gillian Welch and David Rawlings (“Down Along the Dixie Line”), Punch Brothers (“Squirrel of Possibility”), and Mclusky (“Icarus Smicarus”), along with one traditional tune, arranged by Punch Brothers (“Moonshiner”). Recorded during the Nashville sessions for their critically acclaimed 2012 album Who’s Feeling Young Now?, these tracks also were produced by Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse). The Los Angeles Times said Who’s Feeling Young Now?’s “rich and evocative tracks capture a white-hot musical mind coming into his own and collaborating with stellar peers,” and Rolling Stone said, “The acoustic framework dazzles—wild virtuosity used for more than just virtuosity.”

    Congratulations to Kronos Quartet, whose acclaimed 1992 Nonesuch album Pieces of Africa has been named one of twenty-five recordings to be inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress for 2024. "It planted a seed for our work," Kronos founder and violinist David Harrington says of the album. "It's flowered so beautifully."
