Mandy Patinkin Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
    Hollywood Walk of Fame

Congratulations to Mandy Patinkin, who received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles yesterday. The ceremony was held in front of the Pantages Theater at 6243 Hollywood Boulevard, where Patinkin's star became the 2,629th on the Walk of Fame. You can watch the complete ceremony in the video below.

"Mandy Patinkin is one of the entertainment world's greatest assets," said Vin Di Bona, the chair of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's Walk of Fame Selection Committee, in his introduction. "He's entertained us on the big and small screens, as well as many theatrical stages ... He is a man of many facets and has been fortunate to carve out a varied career in theater, also the concert stage, film, television, and as a recording artist."

Actor Rupert Friend, Patinkin's co-star on the Showtime program Homeland, and Tony Award winner Patti LuPone, Patinkin's longtime friend, co-star on Broadway in Evita, and frequent touring partner, were among the speakers at the event.

"This is a friend who is by their very nature a guide," says LuPone. "This is a friend who is consciously committed to being true, who is so empathetic that the world's pains and problems become theirs, but not in the way that makes them lost in the mire of desolation. This beloved friend is a doer, a seeker, a fearless human who simply wants to help. How many selfless people do we know, let alone are in our lives? I have one of those in my life—Mandy."

You can watch more and see Patinkin's moving words of thanks, including very kind words for Nonesuch Records' own Bob Hurwitz, in the video below.

Mandy Patinkin has released five albums on Nonesuch Records: Experiment (1994), Oscar & Steve (1995), Mamaloshen (1998), Kidults (2001), and Mandy Patinkin Sings Sondheim (2002).

'Tis the season to be jolly with holiday songs! To add our merry to the mix, we've created Nonesuch for the Holidays, a playlist of holiday tunes both classic and soon-to-be-so from The Staves, Chris Thile, Emmylou Harris, Kate & Anna McGarrigle with family and friends, Boston Camerata with eight centuries of Christmas music from Medieval to Renaissance to Baroque, and, of course, George Balanchine's The Nutcracker, performed by the New York City Ballet Orchestra—plus, on Spotify, an exclusive from Rostam.

Chris Thile was joined by fellow Punch Brothers Chris Eldridge and Noam Pikelny as they sat in with the band on his radio show Live From Here at The Town Hall in NYC on Saturday. For a post-broadcast encore, they performed "My Oh My," from Punch Brothers' album The Phosphorescent Blues, with guest Jon Batiste. You can watch it here. Also on the show were St. Vincent (with Thomas Bartlett on piano) and Sara Watkins.
