The Black Keys, recent nominees for the 2012 MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video for their music video of "Lonely Boy" from El Camino, continue their tour headlining North American summer festivals this weekend. After headlining last weekend's inaugural Catalpa Festival in New York City, which, according to Rolling Stone, the band "ruled," they close out Lollapalooza's opening night in Chicago's Grant Park tonight and close out the entire Osheaga Festival in Montreal's Parc Jean Drapeau on Sunday. In between, the band hits the Molson Canadian Amphitheater in Toronto on Saturday with support from The Shins.

Also playing both the Lollapalooza and Osheaga festivals this weekend are Amadou & Mariam, as part of a North American tour featuring music from their new album, Folila, which Newsweek calls "magic." The Malian couple performs at Osheaga tonight and Lollapalooza on Sunday, stopping in New York City on Saturday for a free show Central Park with Theophilus London for the SummerStage concert series. London is one of a number of guest artists on Folila, which also features Santigold, TV on the Radio, and more. The SummerStage set has been named today's Gig Alert by WNYC.

---

Laurie Anderson presents her original work Dirtday!, which deals with diverse topics from politics to animals, at Royal Festival Hall in London as part of the 12-day Meltdown Festival. The festival's diverse array of performers reflects the interests and influences of its curator, Antony (of Antony and the Johnsons).

---

Björk headlines the Stockholm Music and Arts Festival, closing out the festival with a performance at Skeppsholmen in Stockholm Sunday night.

---

---

---

k.d. lang and the Siss Boom Bang have kicked off the third leg of their North American tour and perform two shows in Colorado this weekend: at Strings Music Pavilion in Steamboat Springs for the Strings Music Festival tonight and at Lincoln Center in Fort Collins on Sunday.

---

Jessica Lea Mayfield continues her US tour with appearances out West, performing at Hi-Dive in Denver, Colorado, tonight, and at Kilby Court in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday. Following this week's tour launch in St. Louis, KDHX says Mayfield kept the crowd "captivated" throughout.

---

The Pat Metheny Unity Band—featuring Chris Potter on saxophone and bass clarinet, Antonio Sanchez on drums, and Ben Williams on bass—continues its extensive US tour with a weekend of performances along the East Coast, featuring the headlining slot at the Newport Jazz Festival on Saturday. The Boston Globe's includes the band on its "shortlist of must-see acts" at the festival, describing it as "a fine Metheny unit, searching and melodic."

The Unity Band also plays in Boarding House Park in Lowell, Massachusetts, tonight as part of the Lowell Summer Music Series and at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center in Westhampton Beach, New York, on Sunday.
