Since the release of their collaborative self-titled EP earlier this year, Carolina Chocolate Drops and Luminescent Orchestrii have performed live together only a handful of times, and tonight, at Duke University's Page Auditorium in Durham, North Carolina, the groups are set to play together once more. Durham magazine says the special pairing guarantees "a night full of high-energy and feet-stomping music."

Tonight's one-night-only concert comes on the latest leg of the Carolina Chocolate Drops' US tour, which includes two additional shows in their home state this weekend: at the Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte on Saturday and the Orange Peel in Asheville on Sunday. Frazey Ford, of Americana band The Be Good Tanyas, opens both of those concerts as well as the remaining shows on the December tour. The Charleston City Paper, reviewing the Carolina Chocolate Drops recent show in the city, says the band "played beautifully together, creating a truly memorable night."

---

John Adams’s My Father Knew Charles Ives is on the program for the BBC Philharmonic’s performance at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, England, tonight. On the program, conducted by HK Gruber, Adams’s piece is preceded, fittingly, by Ives’s Three Places in New England.

---

Laurie Anderson and Steve Reich are guests on stage at The Greene Space in downtown New York City tonight for a special event honoring John Schaefer, the host of WNYC's New Sounds and Soundcheck, as he marks his 30th year on the air. The sold-out event includes Anderson, who was the first guest on New Sounds, and Reich, as well as performances from Ethel, Simone Dinnerstein, and Tift Merritt.

---

As noted earlier today in the Nonesuch Journal, The Black Keys are set to perform on Saturday Night Live tomorrow night, just a few nights before the release of their new album, El Camino. With this appearance, they join Leon Redbone, the Blues Brothers, and Beck as the only musical guest to appear twice in one year. Next week, the band performs on The Colbert Report on Tuesday and the Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday. MTV Hive will livestream their album release show at New York’s Webster Hall on Monday.

Check out these promos for Saturday's show with the band, host Steve Buscemi, and SNL's Andy Samberg:

Shawn Colvin is in the Great Lakes region this weekend, starting things off in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she performs at The Ark tomorrow night. On Sunday, Colvin heads to the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, where she'll play for a sold-out crowd, with singer-songwriter Jake Armerding opening the concert.

---

Richard Goode is in Portland, Oregon, this weekend to perform at the Newmark Theatre on Sunday night. On the program are works by Brahms, Chopin, and Mozart.

---

Kronos Quartet performs at the Glaser Center in Santa Rosa, California, tonight. On the program is Steve Reich's latest piece, WTC 9/11, as well as the West Coast premieres of works by Bryce Dessner, Michael Gordon, and Yechiel Karniol. This is Kronos Quartet's last scheduled appearance for 2011. Look for many dates to come in the new year, around the January release of their latest Nonesuch album, Music of Vladimir Martynov, now available to pre-order at 34% off SRP, as part of the Nonesuch Store's fourth anniversary sale.

---

Jessica Lea Mayfield begins her two-week, seven-city tour supporting Ryan Adams at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia tonight, followed by a performance at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore on Sunday. The tour includes a stop at Carnegie Hall in New York next week, followed by shows in Boston, Toronto, Chicago, and Minneapolis.

---

Brad Mehldau, who just completed a European duo tour with label mate Joshua Redman earlier this week, remains in the area for a few more concerts this month. This weekend, Mehldau performs twice, with different artists each night. First comes a concert at Wigmore Hall in London, tonight, with vocals from Joe Henry; the show is the culminating concert of Mehldau's two-year jazz series at the hall. Up next is a Saturday night show at Sala BBK in Bilbao, Spain, where Mehldau is joined by Joe Martin on bass and Jorge Rossy on drums. Rossy was a member of the original Brad Mehldau Trio heard on the new box set The Art of the Trio Recordings: 1996–2001, due out on Nonesuch on Tuesday.

---

The Pat Metheny Trio, featuring Larry Grenadier on bass and Bill Stewart on drums, completes its European tour this weekend, with one final concert at the Pallas Theater in Athens, Greece, on Sunday. This performance is also the last scheduled tour date for Metheny in 2011. He and Grenadier are set to tour Asia in January, including a seven-night residency at Blue Note in Tokyo.

---

Randy Newman joins the Cleveland Orchestra, at their home venue, Severance Hall, in Cleveland, Ohio, Saturday night. Newman is set to perform favorite songs from through his career, along with a few of his more memorable film scores. His latest Nonesuch release, the CD+DVD Live in London, features Newman performing with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
