Nonesuch Records’ 50th anniversary festivities at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM)—Nonesuch Records at BAM: Celebrating a Label Without Labels—draw to a close with another music-filled weekend reflecting the series’ wide range, with performances from Laurie Anderson, Kronos Quartet, Robert Plant, and Caetano Veloso.

Laurie Anderson and Kronos Quartet conclude the five-night run of Anderson’s new piece, Landfall, tonight and on Saturday at the BAM Harvey Theater. Landfall, their first-ever collaboration, is inspired by her experience of Hurricane Sandy. Earlier this week, Anderson and Kronos Quartet’s David Harrington discussed the development of the piece on WNYC’s The Brian Lehrer Show, which you can hear here. You can watch a new video from the New York Times, in which Kronos discusses the special nature of making music through the quartet and which captures a performance in a 3D-animated dot cloud, here.

Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters, who kicked off a North American fall tour in Port Chester, New York, last night, are the musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon tonight; set your DVR or tune in at 11:35pm ET to see them perform “Rainbow,” off his new album, lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar. (You can watch the official video for the song here, and the Plant-selected, contest-winning video here.) They perform at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House on Saturday and Sunday; recently signed Nonesuch artist Olivia Chaney opens each show.

Caetano Veloso concludes the US leg of his Abracaco orld tour with the second of two consecutive nights at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House tonight and an intimate public conversation about art, music, film, and more with director Peter Sellars Saturday evening at the BAM Fisher Hillman Studio. Veloso gave “a set as daring as it was inspired” in his Hollywood Bowl debut last weekend, writes the Los Angeles Times. “His exuberant, expansive sounds married bossa nova, rock, reggae, funk and a host of genre-less noises generated by his and his three-piece band’s imagination.”

---

Björk's Biophilia Live, the documentary film capturing the multidimensional concert centered on Björk’s eighth studio album, makes its North American theatrical debut at the IFC Center in New York City tonight. The film made its European debut at the Czech Republic’s Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, at which Variety praised the film as “a captivating record of an artist in full command of her idiosyncratic powers.” At selected screenings the documentary When Björk Met Attenborough will screen alongside Björk: Biophilia Live. For additional details, visit biophiliathefilm.com.

The Black Keys, who performed two nights at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn earlier this week in conjunction with Nonesuch Records’ 50th anniversary festivities in the borough, continue their North American tour with two shows at the United Center in Chicago on Saturday and Sunday, with special guest Cage The Elephant. The Boston Globe, reviewing a recent show, says: “[T]he fact that they have been able to become one of the most prominent rock outfits of the 2010s while keeping things simple is not only a rebuke to arena-rock excesses, it’s a testament to their talent.” The tour picks up again at the Target Center in Minneapolis October 24.

The Black Keys were the musical guests on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this week, performing “Gotta Get Away,” off their latest album, Turn Blue. You can watch the performance plus their web-exclusive performance of Edwyn Collins’s “A Girl Like You” here.

---

Bombino continues his European tour at De Roma in Borgerhout, Belgium, tonight and the Rasa in Utrecht, The Netherlands, on Saturday, as part of Festival RASAMania! The tour, which features selections from his Dan Auerbach-produced Nonesuch album, Nomad, and more, rounds out in Switzerland and two Spanish cities early next month.

---

Carolina Chocolate Drops, who played a rousing show in New York City as part of Nonesuch Records at BAM last week, perform the second of two nights at the Stoughton Opera House in Stoughton, Wisconsin, tonight. They pick up their tour out West in Arizona on October 9.

---

Shawn Colvin continues her duo tour with Steve Earle, titled “Songs and Stories, Together Onstage,” in upstate New York this weekend: at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester tonight and The Space at Westbury in Westbury on Saturday. They perform at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, New Jersey, on Sunday, before the tour concludes in Ft. Collins, Colorado, on Thursday.

---

Iron and Wine, who offered a solo set in Brooklyn last weekend as part of Nonesuch Records at BAM, performs a sold-out show at Cornell University’s Bailey Hall in Ithaca, New York, on Saturday. His performance features selections from throughout his career, including his Nonesuch debut album, Ghost on Ghost.

---

Conor Oberst performs at two Knitting Factory venues this weekend: in Boise, Idaho, on Saturday and Spokane, Washington, on Sunday. The tour continues in Seattle and Portland in the week ahead and features supporting sets by special guest Jonathan Wilson, who co-produced Oberst’s Nonesuch debut album, Upside Down Mountain. Glide magazine, reviewing Oberst’s recent performance in Austin, lauds him as “one of the great musical talents to emerge in the last two decades.”

---

Rokia Traoré performs at Royce Hall in Los Angeles tonight. Malian kora master Toumani Diabaté and his son Sidiki, who were due to join her for the performance, have had to cancel their US tour due to unexpected personal and logistical difficulties.

---

Chris Thile and Edgar Meyer continue their month-long North American duo tour featuring music from their new album, Bass & Mandolin, with shows in Texas this weekend: at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth tonight and the University of Texas’ Bass Concert Hall in Austin on Saturday. They head to Nashville, Kentucky, and Ohio in the week ahead.

“Every lightning run or mad time signature matched an equally gorgeous melodic turn,” writes the Vancouver Sun of a recent performance. “Both are first and foremost wedded to the emotion of the song. And to amaze with your chops while exercising considerable restraint in those spots where lesser players might decide to showboat certainly was genius-rated. It’s a rare opportunity to be captivated by two such unusual instruments in a pairing. These two are truly special.”
