Pat Metheny Unity Group closes out a year-long, worldwide tour with a month-long North American tour featuring music from their debut album, Kin (←→). Metheny and the band kick off the final leg of the tour in Canada at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre in Ontario, followed by stops in Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec; head to the States for shows in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland; make a quick trip to Mexico for the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival in Mexico; then return to the States for a culminating, week-long residency at the Blue Note in New York City.

Pat Metheny Unity Group closes out a year-long, worldwide tour with a month-long North American tour featuring music from their debut album, Kin (←→). Pat Metheny recently spoke with the Ottawa Citizen's Peter Hum in advance of this week's concert there, about the band, the album, and taking it all on the road. Hum describes the new album as "a richly orchestrated program of lush, layered and painstakingly crafted music, cinematically coloured not just by Metheny’s multiple guitars and electronics, but also Carmassi’s stunning versatility." Kin (←→) recently topped the 79th Annual DownBeat Readers Poll as Jazz Album of the Year. The Pat Metheny Unity Group was also voted top Jazz Group, Metheny made the top of the Guitar category, and band member Chris Potter top of the Tenor Saxophone category.

    Yasmin Williams to Tour with Brittany Howard and Michael Kiwanuka This Fall

    Composer/guitarist Yasmin Williams—whose first song on Nonesuch, "Dawning," was released late last year ahead of her label debut album, due later this year—will support Brittany Howard and Michael Kiwanuka on their North American fall tour. The shows begin at The Met in Philadelphia on September 29, and include stops in Boston, New York, Saint Paul, Denver, Boise, Portland, Vancouver, Seattle, Berkeley, Los Angeles, and more.
