    The Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA (CAP UCLA) has announced its 2018–19 season, and among the artists performing this season, at Royce Hall or the Theatre at Ace Hotel, are Emmylou Harris, Kronos Quartet, Pat Metheny, Tigran Hamasyan, Nico Muhly, and Thomas Bartlett. Subscriptions are on sale now; individual tickets go on sale July 16.

    Congratulations to Pat Metheny, who will receive the PRS for Music Gold Award at the Jazz FM Awards in London next Monday. He was named a 2018 NEA Jazz Master last week. Metheny begins a European tour in late June and tours North America in August and September.

    Pat Metheny has announced several new North American tour dates this fall. He and his quartet—drummer Antonio Sánchez, bassist Linda Oh, and pianist Gwilym Simcock—will perform across the continent starting in the US Northeast in late September and making their way to the Midwest and Toronto, across to Colorado, the Pacific Northwest, Vancouver, and California. The month-long tour culminates at Royce Hall in LA on October 26. Metheny was celebrated as a 2018 NEA Jazz Master in a tribute concert at the Kennedy Center on Monday.

    Pat Metheny has once again been named Guitarist of the Year in the DownBeat Readers Poll. "The results of this year's Readers Poll are an indication of the incredible variety and depth of talent on the jazz scene today," said DownBeat Editor Bobby Reed. Metheny released two albums on Nonesuch last year: The Unity Sessions ("Brilliant," Times of London) and Cuong Vu Trio Meets Pat Metheny ("A complete success," All About Jazz).

    Congratulations to Pat Metheny, who has been named a 2018 NEA Jazz Master, the nation's highest honor in jazz, along with Dianne Reeves, Joanne Brackeen, and Todd Barkan, "for their lifetime achievements and exceptional contributions to the advancement of jazz." A concert will be held in tribute to the honorees at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, on April 16, 2018.     Congratulations to drummer Antonio Sánchez and trumpeter Cuong Vu, who have won ECHO Jazz 2017 Awards for their performances on two 2016 Nonesuch albums with guitarist Pat Metheny: Antonio Sánchez, International Drums Instrumentalist of the Year for The Unity Sessions, with the Pat Metheny Unity Group; and Cuong Vu, International Brass Instrumentalist of the Year for Cuong Vu Trio Meets Pat Metheny. The ECHO Jazz Awards ceremony will take place at Blohm + Voss in Hamburg, televised on NDR, on June 1, 2017.

    The results of the 80th Annual DownBeat Readers Poll have been announced, and the winner for Guitarist of the Year is once again Pat Metheny. Metheny released two albums on Nonesuch this year: The Unity Sessions, which the Times of London called "brilliant," and Cuong Vu Trio Meets Pat Metheny, which All About Jazz called "a complete success."     Pat Metheny begins a US tour with drummer Antonio Sánchez, pianist Gwilym Simcock, and bassist Linda Oh with Opening Night/Week concerts of SFJAZZ Center's 2016–17 concert season, tonight and through the weekend. They perform five more shows in California, including a concert at UCLA's Royce Hall and a set at the Monterey Jazz Festival; two in Colorado; a stop in Kansas; and two in Metheny's home state of Missouri. The musicians will tour the East Coast in early 2017.

    The SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco has announced its 2016–17 concert season and featured among the performers taking the Miner Auditorium stage in the venue's fifth anniversary season are Pat Metheny with his new quartet; Brad Mehldau, revisiting his acclaimed 2010 album Highway Rider with his Trio, Joshua Redman, Mark Guiliana, and a chamber orchestra; and Emmylou Harris, who joins Rosanne Cash and Lucinda Williams in concert. Tickets go on sale to members on Saturday, June 25, and to the general public on Wednesday, July 13.
