After launching his solo career with the critically acclaimed Familial last year, Philip Selway returns with the Running Blind EP, which Nonesuch releases digitally in North America on August 30. (Bella Union releases it July 25 in Europe.) When Selway wrote the songs that formed the track listing for Familial, he kept back a handful that he felt worked best as a separate piece of work; these now comprise Running Blind. The digital EP includes those four songs plus a live session video of the title track. Listen to the title track here.

Philip Selway "emerged from a couple of months in the Radiohead lair," as he puts it, to give a solo performance at the Liverpool Sound City festival this past Saturday. While there, he spoke with Drowned in Sound about his debut solo album, Familial, and the challenges of developing as a solo artist after all these years in the band. He also shares his thoughts on band mate Thom Yorke's dance performance in the video for Radiohead's "Lotus Flower." Selway performs another solo set this summer at the UK's Truck Festival in July.

There's just over a week to go to submit entries in the contest to remix "Beyond Reason" off Philip Selway's solo debut Familial. Rolling Stone, in its album review, writes, "News flash: Radiohead officially have another songwriter." The Wall Street Journal takes a look at Selway's dual roles as Radiohead drummer and singer-songwriter and says: "The thoughtful 43-year-old has a way of making the unexpected decision seem just right ...  Selway's compositions echo elements of Radiohead, but their themes tell us they are his own."
