Punch Brothers kick off their fall tour tonight at the Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain, North Carolina. The tour will run through November and now includes two new dates at Chicago's Lincoln Hall in December.

As recently noted in the Nonesuch Journal, the coming months bring a number of exciting shows for Punch Brothers, both as headliners and in support of fellow artists. On October 1, the band joins T Bone Burnett at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park; two weeks later, they team up again for Burnett's The Speaking Clock Revue at the Wang Theatre in Boston and the Beacon Theatre in New York, featuring performances by Elton John & Leon Russell, John Mellencamp, Elvis Costello, Gregg Allman, Ralph Stanley, Jeff Bridges, Karen Elson, and The Secret Sisters, as well as Neko Case in Boston and Jim James from My Morning Jacket in New York.

Other notable events include an October 12 set at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles with support from Jon Brion, the producer of Punch Brothers' latest Nonesuch release, Antifogmatic; an October 21 show with Dierks Bentley at Southpaw in Brooklyn, to close out his four-night New York City residency; and two dates supporting Dave Matthews Band, on November 5 and 6 in Albany and Philadelphia, respectively.

In the midst of all this, Punch Brothers will join Steve Martin to perform on The Late Show with David Letterman, on November 4. Martin recently awarded Punch Brothers’ banjo player, Noam Pikelny, the inaugural Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass.
