    Punch Brothers’ take on the traditional tune "Cattle in the Cane," from their upcoming album Hell on Church Street, is out today, as is an in-the-studio video of the band playing the song, which you can watch here. The album is a reimagining of, and homage to, the late bluegrass great Tony Rice’s landmark solo album Church Street Blues, with songs by Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, Bill Monroe, and others. Nonesuch Store pre-orders include a limited-edition print signed by the band while supplies last. Punch Brothers tour North America in support of the album beginning in January, with shows in Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Boston, and more.

    Lake Street Dive's Rachael Price, Punch Brothers, and Gaby Moreno are among the artists who will perform at The Kennedy Center's 50th Anniversary Celebration Concert, hosted by Audra McDonald with special guest Caroline Kennedy on September 14. The event will be broadcast on PBS as The Kennedy Center at 50 on October 1. Other performers include Christian McBride, Ben Folds, Kelli O'Hara, Renée Fleming, and more.

    Punch Brothers guitarist Chris "Critter" Eldridge is on the podcast Inside the Musician's Brain to talk with host Chris Pandolfi of The Infamous Stringdusters from the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, where Punch Brothers, a mainstay of the festival, returned to perform last month. "Critter is really an astounding acoustic guitar player," says Pandolfi. "I've always loved his playing." You can hear their conversation here.

    Punch Brothers present Live from Blackbird, a pair of livestreamed performances from Blackbird Studio in Nashville, TN, where they made their 2012 album Who’s Feeling Young Now? and where they are currently at work on their next record. The shows begin at 8pm ET the next two Sundays: November 15 and November 22. The band members reunited this week for the first time since before the pandemic began. Each Live from Blackbird concert will be unique, with no repeated songs. A VIP option is also available and includes a Q&A with the band at the end of the livestream, accompanied by cocktails; VIP ticket buyers will be sent a cocktail guide with recommended recipes.

    Punch Brothers' Chris Thile and Chris “Critter” Eldridge performed on the final episode of The Bluegrass Situation’s Whiskey Sour Happy Hour last night, with band mate Gabe Witcher in the show's house band and Noam Pikelny in the finale. The series, hosted by Ed Helms and presented in partnership with Americana Music Association, raises funds for MusiCares' COVID-19 Relief Fund and Direct Relief.
