    Punch Brothers were in London to perform at the 2012 Hard Rock Calling festival in Hyde Park this past July. Among the other artists performing at this year's festival were Paul Simon, Tom Morello, Allison Krauss, Bruce Springsteen, and Paul McCartney. Tune in this weekend to see highlights from the festival, including a song from Punch Brothers' set, airing in the US on VH1 and Palladia and in the UK on Sky Arts. The band resumes its North American tour in September.

    Punch Brothers, following a month of US and European festival sets, have now announced that they will return to Europe this November, beginning with the previously announced show at Open House Festival in Belfast on November 5, followed by several headline stops in the UK including shows in Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, and London, as well as festival sets in the Netherlands and Belgium for Crossing Border Festival. Tickets are on sale now. Punch Brothers head to Australia next week.

    Punch Brothers, who close out their European tour in Dublin tonight, have announced the second leg of their fall tour. This run starts November 24 in Vancouver and takes the band to cities throughout the West Coast of North America, wrapping up with a pair of Midwest dates in Minneapolis and Chicago. A limited pre-sale for most dates is under way; the first leg of the fall tour is on sale now. Punch Brothers also have a number of festival dates on tap later this month, including Grey Fox, Master Musicians, RockyGrass, FloydFest, and Newport Folk.

    Punch Brothers launched the European leg of their summer tour at Denmark's Roskilde Festival on Friday. Their entire set was captured on video; watch it in full here. The band's European tour continues into next week and includes three more festival dates in the UK and headline shows in Paris and Dublin.     The North Sea Jazz Festival takes place this weekend in Rotterdam, Netherlands, featuring a diverse array of artists, including several familiar to readers of the Nonesuch Journal: Joshua Redman, James Farm, Pat Metheny, Brad Mehldau Trio, Punch Brothers, Lianne La Havas, Fatoumata Diawara, and Oumou Sangare. Redman, in fact, is this year's North Sea Jazz Artist in Residence and as such performs on each festival day with varied musical projects.

    Punch Brothers have helped launch a new segment on MTV Hive called Stop/Watch, in which artists are challenged to complete a song in 60 seconds. In the inaugural session, Punch Brothers offer a new take on their song "New York City," a tune off their latest album, Who's Feeling Young Now?. “'Silky' isn’t a term often used to describe bluegrass yet it’s applicable for Punch Brothers‘ 60-second rendition of 'New York City,'” says MTV Hive, noting "Thile’s soulful vocals" and "the song’s jazzy elegance."     Chris Thile is a guest on today's Here and Now, from NPR member station WBUR in Boston. Thile talks about his lifelong love of the mandolin, from the first time he saw the instrument, at the age of two, to some of the many projects in which that has manifest itself, including Punch Brothers.     Punch Brothers have announced the first leg of their Who's Feeling Young Now? fall tour. The band has added a number of new East Coast dates in addition to the previously announced appearance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on October 13. Punch Brothers kick things off north of the border with two Canadian dates—Montreal on September 27 and Toronto on September 28—followed by shows in New York, North Carolina, New Orleans, Georgia, and more. A limited pre-sale for most dates is underway.

    Punch Brothers make their third appearance on NPR's Mountain Stage with a set recorded on the campus of West Virginia University and airing on NPR stations across the US this week. The band performs five songs off their new album, Who's Feeling Young Now?. Also on NPR, the band can be heard on John Wesley Harding's Cabinet of Wonders.     Congratulations to Carolina Chocolate Drops and Punch Brothers, who have both been nominated for Duo/Group of the Year in the 2012 Americana Honors & Awards, presented by the Americana Music Association. Punch Brothers' own Chris Thile has also been nominated as Instrumentalist of the Year. The awards ceremony will take place at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium on September 12, as part of the Americana Music Festival.

    The line-up for the 2012 Austin City Limits music festival has been announced, and The Black Keys will be among the artists headlining the annual three-day festival in Zilker Park this year. Also performing are label mates Punch Brothers. This year’s festival will take place October 12–14. Among the other headliners are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Jacke White, Florence + The Machine, and The Avett Brothers. Tickets go on sale for the general public Wednesday at 10 AM CT.

    Punch Brothers pick up their US tour again at Appalachian Uprising in Ohio on June 2, one of a number of festival dates ahead in the US and Europe, in addition to their own headline shows. In duo news, Noam Pikenly performs at the Brooklyn Folk Fest tonight with guitarist Michael Daves, who joins Chris Thile at the Ryman next month. During a recent stop in Nashville, Punch Brothers performed two songs off their new album, Who's Feeling Young Now? at Lightning 100: "Patchwork Girlfriend" and "Movement and Location."
