    Punch Brothers kick off their fall tour tonight at the Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Tour highlights include performing with T Bone Burnett at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass; two shows with Burnett's The Speaking Clock Revue; a show in Los Angeles with support from Jon Brion; and opening slots with Dierks Bentley and Dave Matthews Band. The band will perform with Steve Martin on The Late Show with David Letterman in November.

    T Bone Burnett will premiere The Speaking Clock Revue, a multi-artist concert event, in Boston and New York this October. Punch Brothers will perform, as will Elton John & Leon Russell, John Mellencamp, Elvis Costello, Gregg Allman, Ralph Stanley, Jeff Bridges, Karen Elson, The Secret Sisters, Neko Case, and Jim James. The events will benefit The Participant Foundation, supporting music and arts education programming in public schools.

    On November 4, Punch Brothers and Steve Martin will perform together on The Late Show with David Letterman. Additional upcoming highlights include tour dates with the Dave Matthews Band and Dierks Bentley, as well as a special performance alongside T Bone Burnett at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. Moreover, Jon Brion, who produced Punch Brothers' new album, Antifogmatic, will play a special opening set at the band’s LA show in October.

    Nonesuch Records wishes to congratulate Punch Brothers' Noam Pikelny, who has been named the winner of the first annual Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass. "Noam is the extraordinary banjoist for the Punch Brothers," Martin said in announcing the award, "playing not only traditional bluegrass, but classical, rock and jazz oriented music. He is a player of unlimited range and astonishing precision"

    The Punch Brothers' tour is back in full swing and headed to Austin this Friday. The band has added a new tour date back on their home turf at Brooklyn's Southpaw, October 21, as special guests of Dierks Bentley. The performance marks the closing night of Bentley's four-night, four-venue New York City residency. Fans across the country will be able to hear the show as it airs live on Sirius/XM on both The Highway and Bluegrass Junction channels.

    Punch Brothers return to the road Saturday for the first of several September performances, starting with a set at the moe.down festival in Mohawk, New York. The band's fall tour includes a stop at the Lied Center in Lawrence, Kansas.     Punch Brothers performed two songs off their latest album, Antifogmatic, for Relix magazine, now available online at Relix TV. Today's Sun gives the album four stars, saying, "You’re left thinking this is a new and thrilling form of music. Jazzgrass, anyone?" Maverick magazine also gives it four stars: "Notes buzz like a bee in a jar, scales leap from high to low like a crazed man on a cliff top, and a visceral drama exudes from every playful flourish."

    Though Punch Brothers have a few weeks off from their tour, Chris Thile takes the stage for a solo set at New Yorks' Rockwood Music Hall this Saturday. The band was featured on the BBC World Service's The Strand. Noam Pickelny tells host Mark Coles, "We really are just trying to create something new and bring all of our favorite styles and influences to the table and just throw them into a melting pot."

    Punch Brothers' latest Nonesuch album, Antifogmatic, was just released on vinyl, while the band is out West performing songs from the album. Already on the road for a month now, Punch Brothers announce their fall tour, adding several new dates throughout the South. "Most shows are now on-sale," reports Noam Pikelny on the band's newly redesigned website. "People might be lining up outside of these venues already. There's just no way to tell for sure."

    Punch Brothers' latest Nonesuch album, Antifogmatic, which was released earlier this summer on CD and described on NPR's Weekend Edition as "10 delectable tunes," is now available on vinyl. The vinyl edition includes the album pressed on 140-gram vinyl plus a CD of the complete album. Actor/comedian Ed Helms offers a "Slobbering Rave" of the band's music in Paste, calling "an impossibly perfect mixture of down-home charm and staggering sophistication."

    Punch Brothers recently visited the MTV studios in New York to take part in the network's new online series, "Live at MTV." The band played songs from their latest album, Antifogmatic, as well as a cover of the White Stripes song "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground." MTV's Buzzworthy Blog features four videos from the performance, including "You Are," "Alex," "Rye Whiskey," and the White Stripes tune.
