Randy Newman is set to take the stage at the 10th anniversary Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin's Zilker Park this weekend. He'll close out the Vista Equity stage on Sunday night just before Arcade Fire brings the whole festival to a close. The Austin American-Statesman has published a profile of Newman, whom the paper calls "a friend to anyone who appreciates impeccably crafted songs." Read the article at austin360.com. Newman also spoke with the Austin Chronicle about his upcoming ACL festival set and how he assembled the repertoire for his latest Nonesuch release, the Randy Newman Songbook Vol. 2—which takes a fresh look at both classic and more recent work in new solo takes on 16 of his celebrated songs—in an interview at austinchronicle.com.

Newman will stay in town for another day to perform before a live studio studio audience at the new ACL Live at The Moody Theater on Monday; the set will be recorded for future broadcast on PBS's Austin City Limits, launching its 37th season this fall. The show has announced its broadcast season today, with Newman scheduled to play the episode's full hour on Saturday, November 12.

The Austin City Limits season begins on October 1 with Mumford & Sons and Flogging Molly. Also scheduled for the season are Arcade Fire, Coldplay, Miranda Lambert, The Decemberists, Gillian Welch, Jeff Bridges, Florence + The Machine, The Head and the Heart, Gomez, and more. In addition, Austin City Limits will travel to Nashville to capture highlights from performances at the 10th Americana Music Association Honors and Awards ceremony, which Nonesuch artist Jessica Lea Mayfield is confirmed to attend. Held at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville in mid-October, this special presentation of Austin City Limits will air on November 19.
