Randy Newman, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month, was a guest on NPR's Talk of the Nation yesterday. The 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which took place at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles on April 18, will be presented on HBO on Saturday, May 18, at 9 PM ET/PT. Randy Newman was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Don Henley and gave a performance with Jackson Browne, John Fogerty, and Tom Petty at the ceremony. Three of Newman's fellow inductees—Heart, Public Enemy, and Rush—performed as well. The ceremony also honored Albert King and Donna Summer, as well as Lou Adler and Quincy Jones, this year’s recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lifetime Achievement. Randy Newman will perform live in concert at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey, on June 14 as part of the organization's gala celebration of film.
