Randy Newman, "One of America's Greatest Songwriters," Featured on NPR Music

Randy Newman's recent appearance on Words and Music from Studio A from New York's NPR member station WFUV is now available to stream on NPR Music at NPR.org. Newman performs songs from his latest Nonesuch release, the Randy Newman Songbook Vol. 2, and talks with host Claudia Marshall about the project, which takes a fresh look at both classic and more recent work in new solo takes on 16 of his celebrated songs. For Words and Music, he performs the album tracks "Suzanne" and "Laugh and Be Happy," as well as the Toy Story favorite "You've Got a Friend in Me."

"He is, simply, one of America's greatest songwriters," Marshall exclaims, "and the hour or so we spent together is among the most enjoyable radio interviews I've ever done."

    Listen now at NPR.org.

To pick up a copy of Songbook Vol. 2, head to the Nonesuch Store, where orders include high-quality, 320 kbps MP3s of the album at checkout.

Randy Newman launches his two-week tour of Australia this Friday in a performance with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra at Brisbane's QPAC Concert Hall. For more information, visit nonesuch.com/on-tour.
