Randy Newman Wins Ivor Novello Award; HBO to Broadcast Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony
Congratulations to Randy Newman, winner of the PRS for Music Special International Award at the 58th Ivor Novello Awards in a ceremony held at Grosvenor House in London last night. The awards, which honor excellence in music writing, are presented by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) and judged by the writing community. Peter Gabriel presented Newman with his award at the ceremony.
Randy Newman was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which took place at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles last month. The ceremony will be presented on HBO this Saturday, May 18, at 9 PM ET/PT. Randy Newman was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Don Henley and gave a performance with Jackson Browne, John Fogerty, and Tom Petty at the ceremony. Three of Newman's fellow inductees—Heart, Public Enemy, and Rush—performed as well. The ceremony also honored Albert King and Donna Summer, as well as Lou Adler and Quincy Jones, this year’s recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lifetime Achievement.
