    Rhiannon Giddens, Ry Cooder to Perform on Americana Honors & Awards Show

    The Americana Music Association has revealed the initial presenter and performer lineup for its 14th annual Honors & Awards show taking place at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Wednesday, September 16. Rhiannon Giddens and Ry Cooder are among the evening's performers, and Rodney Crowell, Punch Brothers banjoist Noam Pikelny and Nickel Creek's Sara and Sean Watkins are among the presenters at the event, which kicks off the 16th annual Americana Music Festival and Conference.

    The show, hosted by Jim Lauderdale with a house band led by Buddy Miller, will broadcast live on SiriusXM's Outlaw Country and will stream live via NPR Music (live audio/video) and Folk Alley (audio only). It will also be taped and edited for a PBS special airing Saturday, November 21 in the Austin City Limits time slot.

    Rhiannon Giddens is among the nominees for the 2015 Americana Honors & Awards, up for Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for her T Bone Burnett-produced solo debut album, Tomorrow Is My Turn. Punch Brothers are nominated for Duo/Group of the Year, and Carolina Chocolate Drops' own Hubby Jenkins is nominated for Instrumentalist of the Year.     Giddens will also take part in an event earlier in the day of September 16, joining NPR Music's debut AmericanaFest event, a performance and chat titled "Songs We Love: Americana Edition," with NPR Music critic Ann Powers. Also on the bill are Patty Griffin and Shakey Graves. The event, free and open to all AmericanaFest badge holders, will be recorded and available at npr.org/music later this month.
