Sara Watkins returns to the set of NPR's A Prairie Home Companion, joining host Garrison Keillor and crew for a live broadcast from San Francisco's War Memorial Opera House Saturday afternoon. Sara, whom the show describes as "a bright shining star of modern bluegrass," will be this week's special guest, along with Metropolitan Opera tenor Raúl Melo.

Sara Watkins returns to the set of NPR's A Prairie Home Companion, joining host Garrison Keillor and crew for a live broadcast from San Francisco's War Memorial Opera House Saturday afternoon. Sara, whom the show describes as "a bright shining star of modern bluegrass," will be this week's special guest, along with Metropolitan Opera tenor Raúl Melo. Sara performed on the show live from the Ravinia Festival last summer.

Also on this week's episode will be The Royal Academy of Radio Actors; Tim Russell, Sue Scott, and Fred Newman, The Guy's All-Star Shoe Band, and the latest News from Lake Wobegon. The show will air live on public radio stations across the country starting at 6 PM ET / 3 PM PT.

Sara was at Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles tonight, where her guest for the evening was singer/songwriter Tom Brosseau. She'll return to the venue later this month for a Watkins Family Hour show with special guest Ben Lee. Up next is a tour of the UK with a group of performers collectively billed as Transatlantic Sessions, stemming from two performances at the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow, Scotland.
