    Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter kick off a series of tour dates in the UK and Ireland with a performance at the Sage Gateshead tonight, followed by shows in Dublin, Derby, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London, and Cambridge. She discusses her memoir, Diamond in the Rough, and performs songs from her new album, All Fall Down with Buddy Miller, who produced the album, and bassist Viktor Krauss. Colvin continues her summer tour with two concerts at The Birchmere outside DC next week.

    Shawn Colvin kicked off her US summer tour at the Somerville Theatre outside of Boston last week. The concert found Colvin in "sterling voice," reports the Boston Globe, with a strong connection between her and her fans on full display. The concert featured songs from Colvin's new album, All Fall Down, which the Globe calls "superb," all delivered "with perfect pitch and quiet charm." The tour continues along the East Coast this week.

"I kept working on the songwriting and then I finally figured it out," Colvin says of her early career. "I figured out my voice, my talent, things I wanted to say and, you know, I figured it out."     Shawn Colvin's new album, All Fall Down, is out this week. To mark the occasion, AOL Music is streaming the album in full all week, and to kick off the celebration, Colvin is performing a special album-release concert at City Winery in New York City tonight, joined onstage by album producer Buddy Miller and bassist Viktor Krauss. The show will be broadcast live on WFUV in New York, online at wfuv.org. The Daily Telegraph calls All Fall Down as "an assured and imaginative album ... the assembled cast of musicians is superb."
