Emmylou Harris performed "Six White Cadillacs," off her latest Nonesuch release, Hard Bargain, on the Late Show with David Letterman last night on CBS. She was joined for the performance by the only other musicians featured on Hard Bargain, producer Jay Joyce and Giles Reaves. In his introduction to the performance, Letterman was effusive in his description of his musical guest, calling Harris "an icon, one of the greats, if not the best in country music and, just generally, popular music as far as a composer and a singer and an artist." You can watch the performance below.

Also last night, Harris participated in an engaging conversation with the New York Times's Dana Jennings at TheTimesCenter in New York for a sold-out TimesTalk, discussing her music, taking questions from the audience, and performing some songs from the new album.

Joshua Redman is joined by drummer Brian Blade, bassist Scott Colley, and cornetist Ron Miles for Still Dreaming, an album inspired by his father Dewey Redman's band Old and New Dreams, out now. That band had an all-star lineup of Ornette Coleman collaborators: Don Cherry, Charlie Haden, and Ed Blackwell. "Consistently riveting," says the Washington Post. "It all makes for a jazz adventure that begs for repeated listening," says the Lexington Herald-Leader. "The more you tune in, the more you hear the present day curators of a sublime jazz legacy forging its music into something unmistakably new."
