The trailer for Howlin' for You, directed by Chris Marrs Piliero and featuring music by The Black Keys, which premiered on IMDB yesterday, seems to have gotten some notice. Pitchfork calls it "hilariously awesome," this "trailer for a so-bad-it's-insanely-good action film." They're not alone. "It's campy, it's cheesy and it's full of violence," says Billboard. "This is certainly a release we're howlin' for." Watch the trailer here. The Black Keys will be on The Tonight Show tonight; their album Brothers, on which "Howlin' for You" appears, is up for six Grammys on Sunday. They spoke about that with KROQ yesterday.

The film trailer for Howlin' for You, directed by Chris Marrs Piliero, starring Tricia Helfer, Sean Patrick Flanery, Corbin Bernsen, and Todd Bridges, and featuring music by The Black Keys, made its world premiere on IMDB yesterday, and it seems to have gotten some notice.

Pitchfork calls it "hilariously awesome," this "trailer for a so-bad-it's-insanely-good action film." They're not alone. "It's campy, it's cheesy and it's full of violence," says Billboard. "Between the hilariously bad dialogue, the sexy Helfer scenes and a Shaun White cameo, this is certainly a release we're howlin' for." The estimable IFC says: "Robert Rodriguez would blush at the sight of this music video movie trailer by The Black Keys."

In case you missed it the first time or just can't see it enough, now you can watch the trailer below, via The Black Keys' YouTube channel. Check it out:

The band stopped by the KROQ studios in Los Angeles to talk with hosts Kevin & Bean about those Grammy nominations, among many other things, yesterday morning.

"Almost every Black Keys fan remembers the first time they heard the Black Keys; for almost every new listener, the Black Keys are crush-worthy upon first listen," writes KROQ's Nadia Noir in a post about the interview. "For some, it is because they’ve become disillusioned with the contemporary phenomena of overproduced power rock. For others, there is something decadent and sonically primordial about the Black Keys that instantly appeals to hardcore purveyors of rock ‘n roll."

"The beauty of song is you can spread information, you can make people feel not alone. And you can also create a time capsule for people in the future to know what we’re dealing with now," Hurray for the Riff Raff (aka Alynda Segarra) tells KCRW's Press Play. You can hear it here. "The Troubadour: How Alynda Segarra, a former train-hopping punk from the Bronx, became one of America’s best songwriters," titles an extensive profile in New York magazine's Vulture on Segarra and their new album, The Past Is Still Alive, written by Jenn Pelly.
