Wanda Jackson, who has been busy touring North America this summer with a number of headlining dates and festival sets—most recently at the Newport and Edmonton folk festivals—launches a two-week, 10-city tour supporting Adele on the British phenom's North American tour. The pair perform at Vancouver's Orpheum Theatre tonight, followed by predominantly sold-out West Coast shows, in Portland, Seattle, Berkeley, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and St. Paul, Minnesota. Jackson returns to her own headlining tour in September and hits a number of festivals then as well, including Austin City Limits.

Jackson will perform songs from her Jack White-produced Third Man / Nonesuch Records debut album, The Party Ain't Over, plus favorites from throughout her storied career. To pick up a copy of The Party Ain't Over, head to the Nonesuch Store, where CD and vinyl orders include high-quality, 320 kbps MP3s at checkout.

"Jackson has an impressive realness about her: good humor, charm, and the incredible grace of a person with nearly six decades in the spotlight but nary a negative or controversial story written about her," writes Minneapolis City Pages reviewer Nikki Miller following Jackson's performance at the Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater this past weekend with Justin Townes Earle. "And holy moly, what a powerhouse. This tiny woman in red fringe and jet black hair can still sing with the same power and pizazz of the girl a quarter her age. Her voice still shifts effortlessly from warbly to scratchy to clear as a bell, and still has that girly then sultry then girly then again sultry quality about it." Read the review at citypages.com.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune says Jackson was "Wanda-ful" at the concert. "For 70 minutes amid a few sprinkles Saturday," writes reviewer Jon Bream, "the 73-year-old Wanda weaved her magic, the right mix of sassy and sweet, clever and corny, rock and country." Read the review at startribune.com.
