Wilco and The Low Anthem have made the shortlist of nominees for the Uncut Music Award and are now two of just eight artists up for what Uncut has dubbed the year's "most inspiring and rewarding musical experience." The music video for The Low Anthem's "Charlie Darwin" can now be seen here at Nonesuch.com. Stereogum described it as an "affecting visual counterpart to Ben Knox Miller's fragile falsetto."

Wilco closes out the US leg of its fall tour tonight in the second of two consecutive shows in its hometown, at the University of Illinois Chicago Pavilion, with fellow locals Tortoise opening. The Chicago Sun-Times review of Sunday's set calls them "visionaries"; the Chicago Tribune says Wilco has "evolved into something of a mini-orchestra." The National Post says Wilco's shows in Toronto last week "solidified its position as one of the greatest that ever DID get signed."

Wilco's TransCanada tour doesn't take place till February 2010, but Toronto fans get a preview with two sold-out sets at Massey Hall tonight and Thursday, which John Stirratt previews in Canada's National Post. In A.V. Club Chicago, Jeff Tweedy responds to anonymous comments, both good and bad, left on sites around the web, ranging from his own hair care to fan expectations.

Wilco's North American tour winds its way north after several stops in the South, including Friday night's show at the Palladium in Dallas, Texas. "Wilco (the album) has garnered considerable critical acclaim for bridging the extremes of this wonderfully ambitious group," says the Star-Telegram. "As Friday’s excellent performance demonstrated, letting in a little light—and calmness—cements Wilco’s standing as one of America’s finest rock bands."

Wilco is still in the midst of its fall tour through the United States, with a breach of the 49th Parallel for two shows in Toronto next week. Come February 2010, the tables will turn for a TransCanada tour, from British Columbia to Nova Scotia, with a half dozen stops planned for south of the border. The Canadian leg beings with a free concert for the "Live City" Vancouver celebration of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

It was a music festival–filled fall weekend with Austin City Limits and San Francisco's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass featuring a total of six Nonesuch artists: The Low Anthem, Sara Watkins, and Dan Auerbach in Austin; Emmylou Harris, Allen Toussaint, and Amadou & Mariam in San Francisco. And St. Louis welcomed Wilco to the Farm Aid benefit concert for a set Rolling Stone says "brought the crowd to its feet."

Wilco kicked off its North American tour last night at the University of Iowa and is at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, Minnesota, tonight. The band stays on in St. Paul for a live broadcast performance of A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor on Saturday. Wilco plays the annual Farm Aid benefit concert, which will be broadcast live on DIRECTV and online on Sunday. Jeff Tweedy tells the Austin Chronicle about the joy of playing live, connecting with the audience: "I can't find anything better than that. You can feel it when a song means something to people."

Wilco's 1995 debut, A.M., is now out again on vinyl. The band is set to begin a three-week tour this Thursday in the Main Lounge of the University of Iowa's Memorial Union. This afternoon at 3 PM CT, the band stops by the studios of radio station WXRT in their hometown of Chicago to talk about the tour and play guest DJ. The North American tour culminates with two shows in Chicago on October 18 and 19; Wilco heads to Europe in early November.

Uncut magazine celebrates its 150th issue in November with a list of the 150 Greatest Albums of the 21st Century (so far). On the list are several Nonesuch releases, including three Wilco records, Brian Wilson's SMiLE, Ry Cooder's Chávez Ravine, Emmylou Harris's Red Dirt Girl, and Scritti Politti's White Bread, Black Beer.

Wilco front man Jeff Tweedy is featured in Glide's biweekly look at favorite singer-songwriters. Columnist Jason Gonulsen reflects on the impact Tweedy's songwriting has had on him over the years, dating back to an unforgettable first listen to "Misunderstood," from Being There, the 1996 double disc slated for vinyl reissue next month. "I was immediately floored," Gonulson recalls, following a through line to the band's latest release, Wilco (the album).

Wilco (the album) comes at a time when Wilco front man Jeff Tweedy is as content as he's been in years, and, says a Maxim magazine profile, that is a very good thing, resulting in the "most confident album of Wilco’s career ... a focused collection of poetic, emotionally direct songs that explore fear, loss, and love from a midlife perspective." Ultimately, "The triumph of Wilco (the album) ably rebuts the tortured-artist ideal."
