Ashes of American Flags, the film presenting Wilco live in concert during their 2008 tour, is due out in the Nonesuch Store and in limited release on April 18, and is now available for pre-order. Culled from concerts in Tulsa, New Orleans, Mobile, Nashville, and DC, the film, produced and directed by Christoph Green and Fugazi’s Brendan Canty, captures the energy, poignancy, and musicality of a Wilco concert and tour. Orders placed in the Nonesuch Store before April 28, the date of the film's wide release, include a free video download of the band's live performance of "Monday" from the film, available beginning the 18th. The winner for Best Cinematography at the Big Sky Film Festival, the film has been selected to play at a number of upcoming film festivals and special screenings to coincide with its DVD release.

In a segment exploring the recent and, in many ways, unexpected resurgence of vinyl, ABC News's Nightline says, "Those big old discs are back in a big way," with sales up 89% last year. Anchor Terry Moran spoke with Washington, DC's Crooked Beats record store owner Bill Daley, who shows Moran Wilco's Sky Blue Sky LP as an example of a recent innovation in the field: the inclusion of the complete album on CD, inside the LP sleeve. Wilco was an early pioneer in offering both formats in a single package with the release of that record in May 2007.

Wilco is set to release a new concert DVD, Ashes of American Flags, on Nonesuch, Saturday, April 18, at independent retailers and nonesuch.com nationwide as part of national Record Store Day. The film, shot in high-def and produced and directed by Christoph Green and Fugazi’s Brendan Canty, presents Wilco live in concert during their 2008 tour. Culled from concerts in five quintessentially American venues—Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Tipitina’s in New Orleans, The Mobile Civic Center in Mobile, The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, and the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC—it captures the energy, poignancy, and musicality of a Wilco concert and tour.

The successful of the vinyl release of Wilco's latest album, Sky Blue Sky, is one example the Chicago Tribune music critic Greg Kot uses to illustrate the recent resurgence of the medium for music fans, young and old alike. The Buena Vista Social Club at Carnegie Hall LP, released last week, joins other recent vinyl releases from Nonesuch like The Black Keys' Attack & Release, The Magnetic Fields' Distortion, and Laurie Anderson's 7" vinyl single "Mambo and Bling," the first recorded music from her piece, Homeland. Kot speaks with Sam Phillips, who asserts: "I love my vinyl, and I play it all the time. Nothing sounds like it. Who would've thought?"
