As announced earlier this month, Nonesuch is set to release the soundtrack from the critically acclaimed documentary about Youssou N’Dour, I Bring What I Love, in January 2010. The album will now be available on January 26, rather than on January 12, as previously announced. The film will be out on DVD via Oscilloscope sometime in early 2010.

Music from I Bring What I Love, the film that documents the reception of Youssou N'Dour's 2004 album Egypt at home in Senegal, is out now. The New York Times Travel section took an extensive musical tour through Senegal's capital city of Dakar, enjoying live sets by Youssou, for whom "an ecstatic roar explodes" from the audience; "local legend" Orchestra Baobab; and "longtime local favorite" Cheikh Lô.

The Times (UK) has had its say on the best albums of the decade, covering the best in classical, jazz, world music, and pop, and Nonesuch artists are represented in every one: John Adams at No. 1 on the classical list with Doctor Atomic Symphony; Brad Mehldau and Bill Frisell in jazz; Youssou N'Dour, Orchestra Baobab, "Cachaíto" Lopez, and Amadou & Mariam in world; the Malian duo in pop as well, along with Brian Wilson and Wilco.

Youssou N'Dour's recent 50th birthday was marked with a cover article from Songlines and a BBC radio documentary. "I'd never heard a voice like it," Peter Gabriel tells the BBC of first hearing Youssou's music, "so smart and emotional at the same time." Youssou is due to perform at an event by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, this weekend and will receive the Medal of Honor from Lille, France, during next week's World Forum Lille.

Youssou N'Dour is in New York City tonight as an honoree, along with President Bill Clinton and Sir Richard Branson, of The Black Ball, a benefit event for Keep a Child Alive to support children and families with HIV/AIDS in Africa and India; he is set to perform as well. Youssou was in the city last night for a Q&A at a screening of the film I Bring What I Love. He is due to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at London's Africa Music Awards on Saturday.

Youssou N'Dour is in Brazil this weekend for the Back2Black Festival, a three-day international event celebrating Africa through political discussions and cultural events, with events taking place in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia. In Rio, he'll perform in a concert with Marisa Monte tonight and participate in a conference on culture and development tomorrow; on Sunday, he'll be in Brazilia for the festival's closing concert.

Youssou N'Dour spoke with Al Jazeera about the many facet of his life and career, as musician, actor, activist, and UNICEF ambassador. The interview looks at his latest efforts, to combat malaria in Africa through the distribution of mosquito nets, and using the power of his music to spread that message and the one in Egypt, his 2004 album dedicated to Sufi Islam. I Bring What I Love, the film that documents the making of that album, opens in six more cities today.

Youssou N'Dour: I Bring What I Love, the film documenting the making of Youssou's Grammy-winning album Egypt, opens in Canada today. It had its North American premiere at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival and is now returning to the country for a theatrical run, with the first stop in Montreal. Fader spoke with Youssou and calls the film "an intimate portrait of the international superstar, one of the most compelling and important figures in the huge slice of culture we call world music."

Today marks the US theatrical debut of the documentary film Youssou N'Dour: I Bring What I Love, an examination of Egypt, N'Dour's 2004 album, which highlights the tolerance central to his practice of Islam. The New York Times enjoys the ample opportunities for audiences "to groove to [N'Dour's] crisp, soaring, polyrhythmic music." The Daily News says its director has "given fans a gift in her performance-heavy documentary" and "an enlightening portrait" to newcomers. The director tells Metro: "Through his music, Youssou brings together audiences of many cultures and many faiths. He shows us that each individual has the power to affect change.”

Youssou N'Dour: I Bring What I Love, the award-winning film that documents the creation of and response to N'Dour's 2004 Grammy-winning album Egypt, begins its theatrical run in New York tomorrow at the Paris Theatre and IFC Center in Manhattan, and at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). The Senegalese superstar and the film's director, Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, will make personal appearances at the three New York-area theaters on opening day and the following day, Saturday, taking questions from the audience about the film.

Youssou N'Dour kicks off the Muslim Voices: Arts & Ideas festival in a sold-out concert with his Super Étoile band at BAM on Friday night. The following night, Youssou and the band return to BAM for the NY premiere of the documentary Youssou N'Dour: I Bring What I Love and a post-screening performance. The Village Voice describes Youssou's band as "astonishing" and Egypt, the album at the center of the film, as "a masterful expression of personal faith embellished with Cairean strings and, of course, the slippery Wolof beats that underlie N'Dour's complexly ecstatic mbalax sound."
