I don't know when I have enjoyed a group of songs so much as Harps and Angles. Maybe many years ago during my time at LSU when I bought Good Ole Boys and memorized every word as I did with this record. From time to time after a drink or two my friend Lee and I still do a little operetta on Good Ole Boys, acting out those songs! Randy has really been a consistent soundtrack in my life and this record is one of his best, maybe the best. The music always takes me back to New Orleans where I'm from although I left years ago. There is something very special there and Randy Newman knows what it is although I don't believe anyone can fully explain it. I believe Newman’s will be remembered as The great American songwriter who captured the essence of his time. Thank you Mr. Newman.
