Randy Newman: "A Few Words in Defense of Our Country"

Randy Newman performs the song "A Few Words in Defense of Our Country" from his album Harps and Angels. When it was first released as a single in 2007, its lyrics published as an op-ed in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times called it a “three-decades-on bookend to Political Science ... so funny it hurt," and Rolling Stone named it #2 on its list of the year's best singles.

We should all be slightly indecisive about whether to smile, shake his hand and thank him as best we can for his body of incredible work, in which this is a shining star, or genuflect and kiss his ring.
I guess either will do nicely.
Congratulations Mr. Newman.

Such good news. Randy's back to put a smile on our faces....

Randy Newman is a national treasure. Buy this album the same way you vote: early and often.
Thank you Randy Newman. Write on.

Right Fucking ON! I mean, it's sublime, profound and spot on.....
Cheers, Randy Newman!

Thank-you Randy and Nonesuch for producing it and promoting him so shrewdly, my hope is that you keep it going for a long long time to come, and back to Randy, keep saying what needs to be said in just such a way, your the only one., it's reassuring and so relevant at the same time....
