Randy Newman: Writing the Title Track, "Harps and Angels"
Randy Newman talks about writing the title track on his new album, Harps and Angels.
I thought maybe Randy was rethinking his spiritual views, then realized he overheard me at Jazzfest!
Randy Newman is the greatest songwriter that has ever lived. I recently discovered his music after reading a book about Tom Waits entitled "Low Side Of The Road" and my only regret is that I have lived up until now without his music.
I truly have been changed by his songs. Really, I can't mean that in a more honest and sincere way. He's got such a "no bullshit" attitude toward writing and his songs touch me in a way that no other person's ever have. I am grateful to have discovered his music and I look forward to their greatness being woven into my owns songs.
Thanks Randy. You're the best man.
I too was wonderin' if Mr. Newman had seen a light at the end of a tunnel.
Gives a nice sense of the workings of Divine Judgement for those of us who are also poised between 'pretty bad' and just plain ol' 'bad,' nonetheless.
Rather consoling, actually...
