Jonny Greenwood’s soundtrack to Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film, Inherent Vice, is out now available on two-LP, 140-gram vinyl. An adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon novel, Inherent Vice, is set in the tail end of the psychedelic ’60s. The soundtrack features nine compositions by Greenwood, an unreleased Radiohead tune performed by members of Supergrass, plus other recordings from the movie’s era. The New York Times calls it an "excellent playlist." Additional performers include The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Neil Young, Can, and The Marketts, among others.

An adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon novel, Inherent Vice, now playing in select theaters in NYC and LA, is set in the tail end of the psychedelic ’60s. The soundtrack features nine compositions by Greenwood, an unreleased Radiohead tune performed by members of Supergrass, plus other recordings from the movie’s era. Jonny Greenwood’s soundtrack to Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film, Inherent Vice, is due out this coming Monday on Nonesuch Records (with the vinyl to follow March 3). Before then, and before the film opens in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles this Friday, have a listen to the track "Spooks," an unreleased Radiohead-penned tune performed by Greenwood with Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey of Supergrass and a voiceover by Joanna Newsom. You can hear the track, which premiered on Stereogum, here.

Jonny Greenwood joined London Contemporary Orchestra members for a performance at Albert Hall in Manchester earlier this year featuring his film scores to Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood and The Master; his own take on Steve Reich's Electric Counterpoint; works by Messiaen, Michael Gordon, and more. Boiler Room.tv was there to capture the performance, and interview Greenwood and orchestra members, both of which you can watch here. Greenwood and LCO perform together again in Oxford in February.

Nonesuch will release Jonny Greenwood’s soundtrack to Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film, Inherent Vice, December 15, with the vinyl to follow March 3. An adaptation of the Thomas Pynchon novel, Inherent Vice, in theaters starting December 12, is set in the tail end of the psychedelic ’60s and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, and Owen Wilson. The soundtrack features nine compositions by Greenwood, an unreleased Radiohead tune performed by members of Supergrass, plus other recordings from the movie’s era. Additional performers include The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Neil Young, Can, and The Marketts, among others. The Inherent Vice soundtrack is available to pre-order now in the Nonesuch Store.
