Chris Thile gave a thirty-minute solo set at the Fine Line in Minneapolis in August as part of the MicroShow series from MPR's The Current that can now be seen here. The set includes solo takes on music by Punch Brothers, Radiohead, and Bach, a Song of the Week from his public radio show Live From Here, and the traditional tune "Rabbit in the Log."

Chris Thile was on WNYC's All of It to chat with host Alison Stewart about his public radio show Live From Here and perform a couple of songs. "As well as being the host of Live From Here, Chris Thile is an excellent mandolin player, a multiple Grammy winner, a 2012 MacArthur Fellow, and he wrapped up a residency at Carnegie Hall earlier this year," says Stewart. "Are you getting a theme here? He is really good at what he does." He performs "Elephant in the Room," from his 2017 solo album, Thanks for Listening, and the traditional tune "House Carpenter," which he had recorded with his band Nickel Creek. When Chris Thile hosted his public radio show Live From Here from The Town Hall in NYC last weekend, he paid tribute to Steve Reich, who premiered his Music for 18 Musicians there in 1976. The show marked the composer's upcoming birthday with Live From Here musical director Mike Elizondo and drummer Eric Doob performing Reich’s Clapping Music. "As influential a composer as our country has ever produced," Thile says. "Thank you for everything you continue to do, Steve. You are an inspiration to all of us." Watch it here.

Chris Thile and Yo-Yo Ma—who made the 2017 Nonesuch album Bach Trios with Edgar Meyer—kicked off the Atlantic Festival in Washington, DC, this week with an eclectic medley of music from Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, "Rabbit in the Log," and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." Live from Here with Chris Thile will kick off its fourth season from its new broadcast home, The Town Hall in NYC, on September 7. The new dates include guest performances from Lake Street Dive's own Rachael Price, Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend, The Lumineers, Raphael Saadiq, Trey Anastasio, The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Jamila Woods, and more.

Lake Street Dive's own Rachael Price was on public radio's Live From Here from St. Louis. She joined host Chris Thile and the band, which included Gabriel Kahane and Punch Brothers' Chris Eldridge, on several songs, including "Lullaby of Broadway," in tribute to Doris Day, and Tom Waits's "Take It With Me." Kahane also performed his song "October 1, 1939 / Port of Hamburg" with St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. You can watch all three here.

He talks about bringing Live From Here to Carnegie Hall this Saturday for the hall’s Migrations: The Making of America festival, and, says host Fiona Ritchie, he explores "how his music traces his roots into Scots and Irish traditional music, and like all American music has been enriched by the movements of people, learning, sharing, and exchanging with one another."

She sang the Spanish-language Christmas song "Peces en el Rio," Donny Hathaway and Nadine McKinnor's "This Christmas," and the traditional tune "All Through the Night," all of which you can watch here, along with an unforgettable performance of Vince Guaraldi's Peanuts theme "Linus and Lucy" by Thile and the band (featuring a must-see dance interlude).
