    Pianist and composer Tigran Hamasyan has released "Ara Resurrected (Dawatile Remix)." The new track, a remix of a song originally released on Hamasyan’s 2020 album, The Call Within, was recorded by Dawatile—producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist David Kiledjian—in France, and co-produced with Hamasyan, with Dawatile adding electronic elements to Hamasyan’s piano playing from the original recording.

    Congratulations to Tigran Hamasyan, who has been awarded the Deutscher Jazzpreis 2021 for Piano/Keyboards and has been named International Artist of the Year. The Jazzpreis is a new jazz award launched by the German government's Commissioner for Culture and Media.

    Pianist/composer Tigran Hamasyan releases "Revisiting the Film," featuring drummer/composer Morgan Ågren, today on Nonesuch. You can hear it here. The new single is a variation on "Our Film," a track from his 2020 album, The Call Within. "For years I have been a big fan of Morgan and finally had a chance to collaborate," Hamasyan says. "I hope this is going to be the beginning of our dialogue."

    Congratulations to Joshua Redman and Tigran Hamasyan, who have been nominated for the Deutscher Jazzpreis 2021 in their respective categories: Wind Instruments International for Redman and Piano/Keyboards for Hamasyan. The Jazzpreis is a new jazz award launched by the German government's Commissioner for Culture and Media. Winners will be announce in a livestreamed awards ceremony on June 3.

    Tigran Hamasyan, whose new album, The Call Within, was released on Nonesuch in August, has performed an NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert. The set includes solo piano takes on "Our Film," from the new album, which NPR Music's Suraya Mohamed calls Hamasyan's "most enterprising release,"and two earlier tunes. You can watch it here. Hamasyan performs for the virtual EFG London Jazz Festival this Saturday.

    Tigran Hamasyan has released a new video for the song "37 Newlyweds," from his new album, The Call Within, which you can watch here. The video was directed by Hayk Matevosyan. Hamasyan says: "This song is dedicated to 37 Armenian newlywed couples from 37 villages who, in 1918, put on black tunics, marked their foreheads red, got on their white horses, and rode into the battle to fight the Ottoman army." He has established a fundraising effort to help those affected by events currently taking place in Artsakh.

    Tigran Hamasyan, whose new album, The Call Within, was released on Friday, has released a video for the album track "The Dream Voyager." The video features collages by Nanuka Tchitchoua and animation by T. Wade Ivy. You can watch it here. "This song is dedicated to my father, who has an ability to see places in his dreams where he has never been before," Hamasyan says. "Every once in a while, he visits these places following the memory of the details of his dreams."

    Pianist/composer Tigran Hamasyan's new album, The Call Within, is out now. On the album, he performs ten original compositions, with Evan Marien on electric bass and Arthur Hnatek on drums. Produced by Hamasyan, the album is a journey into his dreamlike inner world, taking inspiration from his interest in maps from different eras, poetry, Armenian folk stories, astrology, geometry, ancient Armenian design, rock carvings, and cinematography, and creating what Record Collector calls "a kaleidoscopic tapestry of sound."
