In conjunction with Nonesuch Records at BAM, the Brooklyn Academy of Music's series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of Nonesuch Records, BAMcinématek presents Nonesuch Records on Film, a salute to the label’s rich catalogue of movie soundtracks with a series featuring some of the most memorable film scores of the last 50 years from Leonard Rosenman, Alex North, Toru Takemitsu, Georges Delerue, and more. Special guest appearances include Philip Glass with a screening of Paul Schrader’s Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters and John Adams with Luca Guadagnino’s I Am Love.

Nonesuch Records releases the soundtrack to Richard Linklater's film Boyhood on July 8, 2014. Shot over 12 years with the same cast, Boyhood is a groundbreaking story of growing up as seen through the eyes of a child named Mason, who literally grows up on screen before the viewers’ eyes. The soundtrack spans the story's 12 years, with songs ranging from the year 2000 (Coldplay's "Yellow" and The Hives' "Hate to Say I Told You So") to 2013 (Yo La Tengo's "I’ll Be Around"). The album also includes the classic "Band on the Run," by Paul McCartney and Wings, and the debut of a new song written by Jeff Tweedy and performed by the father/song duo Tweedy, "Summer Noon."

Jonny Greenwood will join in on the debut screenings of Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood with Greenwood's score performed live: with the London Contemporary Orchestra at the Roundhouse in London, August 6 and 7, and the Wordless Music Orchestra at the United Palace Theatre in NYC, September 19 and 20. Greenwood will play the ondes Martenot part of the score. He performs Steve Reich's Electric Counterpoint at Barbican Hall on May 18 as part of the Barbican's celebraton of Nonesuch Records' 50th anniversary.

Darren Aronofsky’s new film, Noah, opens in theaters and IMAX across North America and elsewhere today. Russell Crowe stars as Noah in the film inspired by the epic story of courage, sacrifice, and hope. The cast stars Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, and Anthony Hopkins. Aronofsky "creates a challenging, enthralling, very modern parable," says TIME. The film of Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of "Inside Llewyn Davis," which captures a one-night-only concert presented by T Bone Burnett and Joel and Ethan Coen at New York City’s Town Hall to celebrate the music of the new Coen brothers film, is now available to purchase on iTunes.
