On the first day of the month, we kicked off a 30-Day Song Challenge (plus one, for the extra day in May), to help us keep track of the days while we stayed home, and it looked as if we would need the help to keep one day from blurring into the next. Now, as the month ends, the days proved memorable in ways we hadn't imagined at the start. For those who joined us along the way and offered your own selections, thank you. Hope you enjoyed. You can listen to all 31 songs in one playlist here.

Stephin Merritt, whose new album with The Magnetic Fields, Quickies, is out this month, spoke with Jarvis Cocker, of Pulp fame, for the Talkhouse Podcast in Brooklyn back in February. You can now hear their conversation here. "Two of my favorites," says host Elia Einhorn. "These are two of the greatest living songwriters. With witty, literate lyrics, often dissecting the multiplicity of sex, they have reimagined what songwriting can look like and accomplish."

Having trouble keeping track of the days lately? Us too. For starters, the calendar says today is May 1. For an assist on getting through the rest of the month, we're kicking off our own 30-Day Song Challenge. We've adjusted the categories a bit and added one more day to complete the month, so if you'd like to play along with us, head to our Instagram or Twitter to grab the square game board now. Then check in each day on Twitter and Instagram Story to hear our picks, reply or tag @NonesuchRecords so we can hear yours, and add the hashtag #30DaySongChallenge for good measure so everyone else can play along too. Enjoy!

Live from Here, the public radio show hosted by Chris Thile, has launched #LiveFromHome, a digital space for people to continue to make and experience art while social distancing due to COVID-19 keeps us apart physically. To kick things off, Chris Thile covered Wilco's "Radio Cure" from his brother and sister-in-law's closet, and invited artist friends to record and share their own. Rachael Price, of Lake Street Dive and Rachael & Vilray, did just that, performing Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" from home with her husband Taylor Ashton. You can watch both here.

Devendra Banhart is on Jenny Eliscu's LSQ podcast. His new album, Ma, is "awesome," says Eliscu, "his best album in a minute, kind of a return to form and a reminder of all of the heart and soul in his music." Of their conversation, she says: "It was great to get to talk with my dear old friend about stuff we've never gotten to before. You don't always get to ask your friends such nerdy questions as I do in this convo ... I was so curious to know about how this incredibly interesting and unique artist ended up sounding the way he does." Hear what he had to say here.

Brad Mehldau's new album, Finding Gabriel, out next Friday, May 17, is streaming in full till then as an NPR First Listen. It's "a swing-for-the-fences opus," says NPR's Nate Chinen. "When you spend some time with Finding Gabriel, you begin to understand how much faith Mehldau has placed here in human vocalization, as a call to communion in troubled times." The album "feels both impeccably crafted and wildly out on a limb," says Chinen, "rooted in both breath and spirit, and a force that moves in mysterious ways."

Rhiannon Giddens's new album, there is no Other, recorded with the multi-instrumentalist Francesco Turrisi, out next Friday, May 3, is streaming in full till then as an NPR First Listen. NPR's Ann Powers says: "There is no Other continues its explorations of heartfelt exchange and private longing in ways similar to, yet distinct from, her other recent work. Since releasing her solo debut album Tomorrow Is My Turn in 2015, she's been building a new vision of the songlines connecting people and historical events, revisiting slave narratives and civil rights anthems and writing her own songs about what has been forgotten or ignored. .... [On the new album], Giddens brings her powerhouse voice and musical chops into closer quarters."
